  • Neil Robertson is still too young to start fading away like this. He is already out of the top 16 and it's clearly not looking good for him now. Does anyone know what might be the cause of this?

I think it's quite normal to be honest. I mean you get those players who go in and out of the Top 16, pretty much like some of the current Top 16 members: Hawkins, King, Fu, Perry etc. He'll be back in no time, pretty much like Steven's will be (I really hope!).
Neil's just going through a bad spell but I wouldn't say it's all lost and I wouldn't call it a Doherty situation just yet.

      • i think he might be homesick.

its alarming how much his form has dropped. 2 seasons ago he was a potential world champion.

i hope he can turn it round

        • Wow..some interesting results for the today matches..Davis is through and Hendo finally won his first match this season. Was a good day for the "big names".
What happened with the "Waldo- Day" match ..werent they supposed to play this evening ?

I think Neil is from another level of those players. He was even considered the player of the season during 2006, having won 2 ranking titles. People like Perry, King or Fu have been around for ever and only Fu managed to win a ranking title which was last year.

Some people were already saying Robertson was taking over Mark Williams as being the best single ball potter on the circuit but even that seems to be going away from him.

I agree that he might be homesick, but if that's the case he needs to find a way around it or we could be losing a big, big talent.

            • Neil won my respet by winning when i didn't want him to but now, when want him to do well his form seems to evaporate!

Looking foward to the Walden-Day match, just started. If Ricky can play like he did in Shanghai he's in with a chance.

              • Still early to say, but Walden seems to be on a roll...
And well done Marco Fu! Last three frames were great.

Well, Fu had a pretty good run in 2006 getting up to the Semi's of the World as well as knocking out a lot of big names. He was also considered a huge rising star back in 1998 when he turned professional and a possible dominant force especially knocking out Ronnie a few times (can't remember what tournaments). But look how he slipped so beneath what was expected of him.

I can't really say much about the other two seeing as I've hardly seen them in action with exception for the past season.

                  • Ryan Day is leading 3-1 and this is usually when he starts to struggle. Hopefully not this time.

I'd rather see Walden go through. Ricky reminds me of how Selby started out. I think Ricky is potentially a Top 5 player within the next season.

                      • He could walk into the top four at the moment. I was looking at the provisional top eight earlier.

After Ronnie and Maguire the remaining players have FOUR ranking titles between them.

These are strange days indeed. There's a huge vaccuum and a player like Walden could fill it.

                        • What are the chances that Walden gets drawn with Ronnie in the last 16, assuming they both get that far?
