    Just a thought

To be honest both players were pretty bad before the interval, shocking even as Joao pointed out. Both players missing by a mile and landing out of position all the time. Then Higgins adjusted and got it going progressively while Hendry din't but then he did not have that much time at the table neither. Yesterday we had pretty much the same scenario in the ROS vs Liang match. I know that many here laugh at Moondan and his "idée fixe" about the conditions. But maybe he HAS a point with his vindication thread ...

If so I wouldn't go to any conclusions about the players form and future based on what we see in this tournament.

I'm not a specialist in such things, but today for me it looked like his nerves got the better of him. He was trying to pot everything he saw and doing it in a haste. When he slowed down a bit - he's made century.
      It's confidence, not the ability.
Absolutely agree and thing that it's too early for conclusions everything is possible .

It's sad to see the game's greatest ever player struggling to that extent

But if he is still good enough to be ranked sixth in the world then he's not going to retire

You haven't watched as much snooker as me, then

Not even in the top five worst performances

The worst, by the way, was when he lost to Anthony Davies in Newcastle (I was there)

That's about as bad as anyone can ever play

            Truly awful

Also when he lost 5-0 to Tai Pichet. That was shocking. And when he lost to Jason Ferguson at the Welsh Open.

It comes to all players eventually. The question for Hendry is whether he will carry on like Steve Davis when he drops out of the top 16.

I for one doubt that he will. It wouldn't be much fun for him or anyone else.

                The typical Ronnie fan boy:

                - Create a thread about how awesome Ronnie is when he wins a match.

                - Create a thread for Hendry bashing when he loses a match.

                It's getting tiresome.

Yes, but it's also human nature, João.

Nothing to do with fanboyism, simply evening out the field. I see every player here attacked but Hendry (usually ronnie....omg world will end), so if you are too gutless to bring up the discussion I will and afterall it is just MY OPINION.

I asked a question in my first post but YET AGAIN some of you resort to mindless attacks and insinuations.

I have admitted I disliked hendry for the jimmy years but that I also have a level of sympathy now for his predicament.

Why don't you answer the questions i asked or stick your heads in the sand instead?

Come again? I wrote a thread on how poor and mentally unstable ronnie can be or did you miss it?

As for hendry I wasn't bashing his defeat, more HOW BAD he played and has played all season or have you been living on the moon?

Fist of Fury, calm down. It isn't always about you. Sometimes you state a strong opinon and then you need to be able to take some criticism from other people without losing your temper.

My opinion: we always have these discussions when Hendry have lost a match. Hendry isn't playing well, and hasn't been for quite some time, except for the WC. With that being said, losing 5-2 to an sort of in-form John Higgins isn't that bad.

hegeland, if anyone needs to cool down, it is some of your members who rant and rave. I don't mind opposing views and strong criticisms. I do mind it when people come back with "oh a jimmy fan" "oh typical ronnie fan boy"

This is NOT how debate works.

I agree. Confidence is a very big part but clealry not all of it. Today, commentary made reference to the fact Hendry seems to be putting unwanted side on his shots or simply getting wrong aim.

I think he would do well to get a more tactical game going too. His days of knocking long balls in for fun are LONG GONE, and without a safety game to fall back on (like davis has), he will struggle to maintain his position among the elite
