Mcmanus....I would but there is little to go on these days, robertson, I did do somewhere else.

But there are otjers that do that and I see no problem sticking to the big names like ronnie, jimmy hendry.

For sure in the future I will be moving on, so don't worry. Today I was watching Hendry and I was a bit shocked at what I saw, that was all.

This is not Hendry bashing......it is talking about the future of the greatest player in snooker

ill be honest even playing as badly as hendry does these days id stil fancy him to beat Davis and jimmy white....

you think jimmy winning qualifieng games against as poor a standard of qualifier as there is at the moment is proof of anything....

im currently watching Judd Trump someone who qualified through to the grand prix strugling to make any breaks so standards jimmy had to overcome isnt that great is it...

Fist we dont agree on much, but thanks for your adult view, more of that would earn you much respect.
Only Ronnie has come near the Hendry class and standard for any length of time.
Its sad to see any great champion decline but Hendry has been on that road for eight years but the end is in sight.

If Hendry played Davis or Parrot, there would be no fear in his game, the fact that they are still there and Jimmy making inroads tells the truth of todays standard.

What do you mean inroads? He's struggling in the qualifiers. And Parrott played well yesterday. He potted a few and then messed the table up like Davis does. I certainly would have enjoyed that savage display if it was not against King, who lost mainly because of a damaged cue and no chance to speak of in the 7th frame.

That is why ronnie is starting to play a better defensive game right now because his long pot ability is decreasing right now but for hendry, the purest attacking player in the sport of snooker, it is hard for him to make such a big adjustment on his game at this age. The only Player who can still keep his game is Steve Davis, you can't refuse to admire his safety.............................

I think the point is that Hendry refuses to change his game in the same way Davis did

The younger posters or those who haven't watched snooker for long won't know that Davis was very attacking in his heyday

When his form went he shut up shop and is now scrapping around for a result which, to his credit, he is still capable of getting

Hendry has played the best snooker ever seen. His problem is that he still believes he can play it when all the evidence suggests otherwise

He could be in for a dramatic slide down the rankings which could herald retirement very soon...

He was talking last season a lot about adapting, but it seems that he still either isn't fully convinced he needs it or maybe doesn't know how. I mean it's easy to say "play more safeties, play slower" - but how do you do it when most of your life you were relying on your breakbuilding and the answer to most problems was "pot everything you see and ask questions later".
At least now he is coming to the table needing two snookers - and winning the frames by the way.
I'm not going to say he needs new coach or to change something in his team - after all, we're speaking about Hendry. This man has forgotten about snooker more than most of us will ever know
But it still looks like his main problem is the realisation that he can't sweep everyone off the table anymore and not the form in itself. He's still top 16 even in this form.
The question is - if he can change his style and adjust and if he wants it really.

Don't know why I'm rambling here and if I'm making any sense I guess I'm just tired of people hurrying to bury Hendry as soon as he loses a match.

Hendry today refused a lot he wouldnt have in his prime...and stil couldnt play to any standard at all....

its a confidence thing and i doubt he will ever gain that confidence back. as fans we got to accept the end is near and move on.....

he can stil play to a top 32 level for as long as he plays the question is does he want to become a jerneyman or just retire.

That is the main point isn't it...in his prime he could simply pot his way out and the standard was such that even if he missed he would be back in the next shot or 2.

These days he WILL be punished and he really needs to get a safety game under his belt. If he played a good safety game, he wouldn't need long pots half as much and his confidence would return.

In amongst the balls he would still be deadly if his confidence came back but at the moment he is doing a jimmy "I am playing great in practice"

he needs to accept that age has done him over and learn to adapt as Davis did
