Was rivetted by last nights game- delighted Steve won. He is amazing and for me is the greatest. So pleased to see him coming back. He is like the charachter Dr Who- keeps re-generating now and again

He couldn't pull it off could he- winning the title

Statman- if Steve wins his quarter final- what will his ranking be

He's through, me wishes he was.
The only reason I would like a video is to make, Fist of fury sit down and watch it a hundred times.

No great player, but I saw enough of him in the eighties.

Clearly Reardon was a 'better' player than Davis at 50 because he was the world number 1, had just come off a world final and would go on to win another ranking title. Davis against Reardon at the same age though I'm pretty sure Davis would take it.
You have to take into consideration though, that players were largely part-time. Reardon was a copper until his thirties; had he had the luxury of dedicating himself full time to the sport during his formative years, he would have been twice the player of Davis. Bear in mind that he was still competitive against Davis when they played against each other at Davis' height in the 80s, despite the age gap. Reardon for me every time - as far as I'm concerned he had the best snooker brain of any player there's been. Look at the difference he made to O'Sullivan...
Hey, why's it say 'member' under my name? Are the mods calling me a penis or something!!?

Well moondan doesn't seem to be a Davis fan. But what many people forget is that far from being a snooker legend Steve is a British sporting legend. To do what he did for his sport and still be in the top echelons in the game now that he is 51 speaks for itself
I would bet that some of the new pop stars of the game- I don't mean that disparagingly will not have the same longevity as Steve-and whether thay will have the smae enduring appeal is also open to debate
Plus a memo to certain commentators- your bias is showing at times. You are not supposed to be biased:snooker:
