  • Quarter-final Draw...

Hi all. Does anyone know what time the draw for the quarter-finals is taking place?

Here's hoping for a kind draw for Steve Davis. I'm still recovering after last night's final frame thriller!

It's by random draw so none of us know. Here is the Second round draw and those winners will be put into a hat and randomly picked:

    Thursday, 16 October – Round 2
    1:30pm
Match 24 Marco Fu v Ronnie O'Sullivan Ref: Michaela Tabb
Match 17 Jamie Cope v Peter Ebdon Ref: Leo Scullion

    7pm
Match 20 Mark Selby v Ryan Day Ref: Eirian Williams
Match 22 John Parrott v Ali Carter Ref: Alan Chamberlain

Those who are already through to the quater finals are:
    - Higgins
    - Ding
    - Trump
    - Davis

Yes, I know it's by random draw. I was asking what time the random draw took place. Thanks for the info anyway!

Oh, 1:30pm, two days before the day they were due to play I think. Sorry, I misread your post.

Im sure I read somewhere, or heard someone say that it was taking place in the evening rather than the afternoon. Probably before the evening session.

Nope, 1:30pm of "today" whenever that was. I'm pretty sure it was on Tuesday

That was for the last 16 draw. You're right, that was at 1.30p.m. on Tuesday. I guess it'll either be before the afternoon session or the evening session. I suppose the organisers might want to delay it until the evening, otherwise half the players in the last 16 will know their quarter-final opponent before they play their last 16 game.

Would be good to have it earlier though - I was hoping to pop over to Glasgow to see Steve's quarter-final and it'd be nice to know when he's playing!

Haha, any earlier and they wouldn't know how to do it seeing as no one would be in the hat yet

i'm hoping for wins by ronnie, selby, cope and parrott and then this qf draw

                    Higgins v o'sullivan
                    Parrott v Davis
                    Cope v Selby
                    Trump v Ding

4 matches all close to call.

Parrott or Ebdon v Davis will be one for the purists should it happen...

If Davis draws Higgins, Selby or Cope though, he stands no chance, no matter how many safety shots he plays!

I think saying he stands no chance is a little unfair. Okay, if he plays like he did against Robertson and Gunnell he'll struggle. But it was only 3 years ago when he took on Stephen Maguire in the second round of the UK. Both players were on top form, Steve's potting was impeccable and he won 9-8 with a break in the 140s and one in 130s if I remember correctly. If he plays like that (however unlikely that might be!) he stands a good chance...

Yep one of those breaks was a 145 - I think he's nowhere near that level at the moment.

Absolutely right Dantuck_7. I live in hope though!

I'm guessing the draw for the quarter-finals is going to be made tonight then? I'm assuming it wasn't made before the start of the afternoon session?
