Is it just me, or does anyone else find it depressing to see the former greats loosing to these 'middle ranking players' (or, rather less politely, 'no-hopers' - call them what you will) who never have or never will get very far in the pro-game.

These journeymen (M. Davis, Gunnell, Dunn, Campbell, Burnett etc.) are very tough to beat in their first round matches not just for former greats but for young talents too. Maybe it's because they are more used to the conditions, but playing against someone who plays his third match in three days might help as well.
