I assume that he probably was offered a wildcard, but refused it. Bear in mind that he will be far more in need of the ranking points, of which he would have got none if he'd taken the wildcard route. (This is just assumption though, but seems logical – the three of them offered wildcards and the two of them accepting is because they were not on the main tour so were not eligible for the qualifiers, and the one who is in the qualifying declining it.)

Competing on the highest level has to be gained on merit. i guess its one of the few sports where this system is allowed. cant think of it in Tennis, Golf or any sport. Its good for inviitionals for up and coming talents. Not for Rankers!!! It makes the sport a farce! There is a time to come and go. And Tony is a goner. Thats life. I am off as well (but will come back).

Seeing as the WSA always likes to "play it safe", I bet Drago will be given a wildcard if he gets knocked off the Main Tour at the end of this season anyway.

Given the exposure that snooker has in Malta, where are all the new players? Drago seems to have been their number 1 since time immemorial, Alex Borg is going nowhere on the Main Tour, and did Grech or Zammit ever make an impact?

Talents like Drago don't come around very often. Especially not in a small country like Malta.

Do you think if Drago wins tonight, Eurosport will show his match on TV tomorrow night?

Not quite, he'll have to get through Parrott and Holt first. Today's is only his first qualifier of three.
