  • One of those matches with an obvious turning point (Ding's black running out of gas at 3-2 50-0 up). Shame because the first session was exciting; I was hoping for a closer finish.

Marco played very well, he has the same form as in the Grand Prix, very tough to play against.

By the way, in all four quarter finals, the lower ranked player went through.

    • Fair play to Fu. When Ding was 3-2 up and 50 ahead, I thought he was going to run away with it. From then on, it was all Fu's. Ding had only a couple of half chances.

Ding seemed a bit edgy today even when he was 3-2 up. I wonder if it was the added pressure knowing that all the tough opponents are out and it was wide open for him.

Wide open for Ding ?? Since the Masters last year it is not as if he is favorite for any tournament. Anyway he didn't fell asleep this week and his English has improved a lot and to be honest I think he is ready to win more titles in the future.
I saw that going differently in my mind

        • I was saying that HE might have thought so, therefore the added pressure on himself.

          • yes indeed, he seems to put a lot of pressure on himself. Perhaps he is afraid not to fulfill 'expectations' about him.

He definatly had a lot more maturity about his shot selection too. I fancy a title or two will come by this time next year.

              • Happy to see Fu won, he is 30 now and hs been playing pro snooker for almost 10 years. Just when a lot have thought that he is done, he won a title and now plays very consistent snooker. Always a gentleman on and off the table. A delight to watch.
On the other hand, Ding is a bit strange--he plays really amaing and then all the sudden plays very bad. He did not seem very focused and looked a bit depressed or upset or disappointed or something. Not sure what it was. His long potting is very good, it is the little shots that he sometimes missed his position or pot that got him I think. That blak was definitely a turning point of the match. Fu played very well, looked very focused and confidenced. Can't take anything away from him.
Perhpas it is the expectation pressure from China. I am not sure.
I hope Ding can see that at the end of the day, it is just another tournament. Hope he does better in the Malta Cup.

                        • Selby deserved to win, he was the better one in most of the frames.

                          • Deserved win, yes, but still I wanted Ken to go through
Now I have to decide if I like Selby-Lee or Selby-Fu better for the final, I don't know who to support tonight

                              • Great show from Lee, I've seen some wonderful shots, he's got such a nice touch.
And Marco didn't seem to be there after the interval.
I'm having troubles choosing whom to support in the final.
Think I'll go for Lee, though...He's been out of the limelight for too long.
