Other than Walden, I think there are three valid choices: Steve Davis for overall record, Mark Williams for recent record, and Jimmy White as a crowd puller. Anyone who votes for Wenbo and Trump dishonours the sport.
    Why should Drago get it?

    1. An instant crowd puller with his fast play and authority around the table, as well as his "battles with the table" when things don't go right.

    2. After discreetly dropping off the main tour, the once Top 10 player and legend deserves a proper send off for his contributions to the sport. The likes of Davis and White will still be around next year.

    3. It's Drago's last chance to win a tournament in Snooker.

    4. It would create publicity for the Masters. Drago is a Pool champion and The Boss. Even non snooker fans will watch his matches on TV because of this.

    5. There is no tournament in Malta this season.

Drago ticks all the boxes. The others don't

You could say the same for Wattana though, who actually managed to win something.

Ding Junhui got a wildcard in 2004 before he won anything. And today he is one of the best players around so I don't see the fuss about having to win tournaments to be there.

I wouldn't say that Ding today is one of the best - and if he was, it was two years ago.
And if Ding's example is proving anything - it's the fact that early overhype doesn't do a player any good. He was at Masters long before he was 20 - he is 21 now and his game seems to be gone, one of the reasons being that he seems to be unable to resist the pressure.
Besides, snooker has to be sold to China - so we will always have eastern players at Masters and in PL.

Wildcards should be awarded by results, to the players who actually proved that they can play and win. If we want to have the tournament for 'young hopefuls' - let's organize something else or stop calling the tournament 'Masters'.

Ding got wildcards when he shouldn't have and didn't get one when he should have. The only reason he kept getting them was because the WSA was trying to promote the game to the Chinese so it was probably acceptable in those circumstances. The argument doesn't hold for Wenbo though because there will be a Chinese presence through Ding and Fu this year.

I think the wildcard should be decided by the fans who are buying tickets to watch the event...there should be an option on the ticket asking who they want as a wild card. so then say 1 week before the event, the calculations can begin on the tickets purchased so far, hence giving the wildcard winner time to practice for the event.:snooker:

They may as well just give it to Jimmy then!

                          Definite Walden.
Anyone naming White has not got a clue. And Drago, not even worth discussing it. Some are living in the past and cant move on!

Dennis Taylor is still 150 on the world ranking list, maybe he should be given a chance.

There's only one candidate for me at the moment RICKY WALDEN

unless someone like Judd Trump pops up and wins the Bahrain or UK tournaments.

Of course if Ricky wins the Masters qualifiers - then who are you going to nominate?
                            Janie Watkins

Any player seeking a long term highish listing in the rankings should immediately change their Name to A. N. Aardvark! After the points finish it's alphabetical!

If Willie Thorne and John Virgo want to be listed above Dennis they need to add an A to the front of their surnames!

In yeears to come when they're eventually retired, Steve Davis will forever remain above Stephen Hendry on the ranking list!
