1) Ricky Walden He has won a ranking event this season and therefore should be at the top of the list unless a player outside the top 16 wins the Grand Prix or Bahrain Championships.
2) Judd Trump The BBC audience will have gotten to know this player this week and if he did win would probably then be first choice. He is an attacking player which will count in his favour.
3) Dave Harold Reached the Northern Ireland Trophy final in fine form but his style will count against him. He was a semi finalist in the 2001 Masters but isn't likely to get it due to his age as a fresher face may be wanted.
4) Jimmy White Has had a great start to the season and would obviously be a popular choice. However I would be dissapointed if he was awarded the place as its time to move on.
5) Steve Davis Former winner like Jimmy and has reached two quarters already this season. Again I would be dissapointed if he was awarded it.
6) Liang Wenbo A quarter finalist at the Worlds and a very exciting talent to watch. A Wenbo pick will also please the Chinese audience but there are players who deserve the spot ahead of him.
7) Mark J Williams Former winner and back in the top 16 provisionally. Can't see him getting it but will put him in there because of his record at Wembley.
8) Stephen Lee He was runner up last year so does he deserve another crack at the title?
