He needs to do that to safeguard his top 16 status anyway.
Thats the problem though. In all three of the BBC events this season he has gone out to Higgins. Although it seems that we keep getting the same matches every tournament. Ding/Higgins, Carter/O'Sullivan, Maguire/Robertson, Perry/O'Sullivan, Carter/Ebdon will soon start to get stale

I think we should have a random draw like the Grand Prix did. That way, it'll almost guarantee fresh matches.

        Top class match tonight!

Noticed a guy in the audience with a Rangers shirt on. I guess he went home ... unhappy.

I am gutted I missed both matches yesterday.... when I have time to watch, matches are dull, when I don't, exciting

Two great matches in store today but really looking forward to tonight's match! Carter looked impressive Wednesday night but the big question is can he produce the same kind of Snooker against O Sullivan?? We will see

Right I hope he takes the positive things out of the Masters tournament, then it won´t be long before he starts winning tournaments again.

Ding played extremely well, i think he would have beaten most other platers. He was very unlucky to be facing a Higgins who was playing virtually perfect snooker.

Ding should be encouraged that he played so well IMO. Hopefully he wont be on too much of a downer about loosing that one. He competed brilliantly.

If Ding can continue play to that standard he will win most of his matches. Only loosing to the likes of JH and ROS in top form, as most mere mortals would....

I am happy for John Higgins, he played well. great safetys, some very nice snookers. ding had some problems with long pots. maybe it's just me but I find ding's playing a bit "unspectacular" to watch.

Yeah, Ding seemed a bit slow sometimes, but on the other hand he showed a much more battling attitude than his usual one. It's going to be harder to beat him in the future if he keeps it that way.

Good to see Ding more focused and not looking so uninterested when things aren't going his way.

Robertson takes 5 attempts to get out of snooker on final red and its 2-1 Maguire.
