Right mate you just shot your self in the foot... Go find ONE POST where I have slagged Jimmy off... I have nothing against him getting the wildcard it fills the venue then fair enough. Yes hes not likely to win it but if you just awarded wildcards by recent results you might as well just hold 2 qualifiers.

If Mark King is such an "average" player, I would like to see you beat him in a match... I think anyone that is within the top 100 of their sport in the world (let alone the top 16) can be described as more than just "an average player"

And you posting the same sentiments in multiple threads is not going to make your point come across any better.

Mark King got way more knocking since the whole wild-card incident and all he did to earn it was being in the top 16. I'm no King fan, and I can understand if others don't enjoy watching him but he's there fair and square and judging by the current rankings he's a better player at the moment than Jimmy. I also said in the other thread that I hope Jimmy will win at least one match but I guess that would mean a bunch of "We told you so!" threads to appear, so frankly I don't care anymore. The decision was made, some agree with it, some don't, maybe everybody should just get over it now.

To be fair Mark King certainly is not a dull player...maybe your judging him by one of his matches last year cant remember who it was against but (but it broke a record for being the longest I think) I fell asleep watching it. Not typical Mark King though, just one of those games.

Should be a good match and I don't think there is much in it with Jimmy White and him. :snooker:

                        Guys

Guys Guys Guys... This a forum where people can voice their opinions on anything to do with snooker, everyone has an opinion on Jimmy, there is no right or wrong in my mind. Lets not turn it into a youtube style slagging match.
As much as I am a big fan of Jimmy, Mark King is a pretty solid match player, you don't get to where he has without being that. I know he's not the worlds most exciting player but for him it's a living.
                        Should be a good match.
Forget it, Donny, you're out of your element

Ive never EVER been a fan of Mark King... his presence in the top 16 continues to suprise me.

however, Jimmy will lose to him.

the wildcard for the masters is exactly that, its to give the fans something to see on the early round of a tournament. Wilds never stand a chance in the china open or shanghai so why should this be any different?

i wouldnt really complain if they gave the spot to jan verhaas or Clive Everton. Jimmy brings something to the tournament so its fair, but anyone who still belives he's there for any reason other than his profile in the game is deluded and living in the past.

mmmm ... remember a certain Ding in 2005?

Whatever. I didn't agree to the award of this wildcard to Jimmy and I still don't. Unless the authorities make it clear on what ground they award them, and that's definitely NOT on merit in this case.
Now for Jimmy's sake I just hope he doesn't disgrace himself completely at the table.

I usually agree with monique on a lot of things but have to say that Jimmy has won two invitational comps last year and got to the final of another so his form ain't all bad and could be considered for the wild card on form alone. Another point is that he is still a big draw and will put bums on seats and finally this may well be his last chance at a major event so surely he of all people deserves one last chance to shine for his fans in London and around the world for his services to snooker down the years at the very least.

The argument is very strong for other players like Walden etc.,
But for this poster there is only one Whirlwind of London town and I hope he enjoys himself and does well. :snooker:
