EDIT: they just asked him in the studio apparently his cue broke mid match at the UK

In Mark's first round match against Stephen Lee at the UK Championships Mark had enough points to win the frame and hit a hard shot when trying to pot the blue. Whilst they were preparing to break off for the last frame before the mid session interval, Mark noticed that his ferrule was bent and his cue was unusable. Stephen offered to take the mid session interval early to allow Mark enough time to get his cue fixed. Once the time was up Mark continued to play with a borrowed cue for the first couple of shots of the next frame until he got his cue back. His cue had been cut down with the tip being attached straight to the wood and therefore having no ferrule. Mark went on to score three more centuries with his ferrule-less cue and still lost the match. It was a very high quality match and Mark was very unlucky to have lost. Hope that answers the question!
