Great match. Very entertaining and exciting. Both played well. For me the best match so far in this tournament, most exciting too.
Williams showed his class. But Murphy made a match of it, coming back like that. And I was certain that when he got his chance in the tenth frame it would go to decider. I'm glad for Williams as I was hoping him to win. (Hope he won't mind that I predicted against him )

Great to see Williams playing some decent stuff again , on his day he,s a match for anyone . His tactical play and shot choice is the best in the game along with Higgins . I would like to see him beat Ronnie it would be the icing on the cake , just the sort of confidence boost he needs to get right back up there .

Like I have said, it is great to see Williams play to such a high standard again. It will be interesting to see him battle it out against the Rocket.
Murphy showed flashes of his brilliant best, especially in the last two frames he won, but Williams was too solid.

If Ronnie does,nt have a 90+% on the long shots and clear the table in one visit then we,ll have people saying that he was on his b game again , just like they did against Robbo . All the top players are capable of these high standards but dont do it all the timt , so i suppose we can say that they are all on their b game , so the same applies to all the top players and not just O,Sullivan .

So, the QF match in what was arguably the weakest part of the draw is approaching. If fact, the bottom half is looking a lot less impressive than the top half. The four quarter-finalist from the top half have won 49 ranking titles and 7 World titles between them, compared to 5 ranking titles an no World titles in the bottom half.
But the player that does contribute a bit more than others in the bottom half is Stephen Maguire. Looking at the breaks in his match against King, you'd think he played pretty well, but we know he missed quite a few. A pretty easy draw perhaps helped him to reach the SF of the UK Championship, and it might do the same here. He has not played like a world number 2 for a long time, and judging form what I saw against King, I'm not too optimistic here. But it was a similar scenario last year. He was almost out after a mediocre performance against Dott in the 1st round, and then he played tremendous snooker to beat Neil Robertson in the QF, including three centuries.
Day played quite well against Perry, but he was not put under any pressure at all. He is a player that can hold his own in an open attacking match, with a lot of big breaks. Maguire is not a player who will make it too tactical, so it could suit Day, especially if Maguire is slightly off his game. But if Maguire gets going, he has the firepower to blow Day off the table.
I predicted a 6-3 in favour of Maguire.

He is a player that according to his abilities should win at least 3 tournaments per season.
Murphy is a good player, but winning three titles per season?? Well, considering the number of tournaments played in a season, and the competition level, add that to ups and downs all players have throughout their careers, Murphy is doing what he is supposed to do. He made the UK & World double, and anything more than that now, especially a Masters crown in the upcoming years, will be a bonus for him..
I agree with most of the posts above. Superb high-quality scoring match and players were involved in great tactical battles, too. Williams' cueing is back to his best, but if he can get past O'Sullivan, that'll be an incredible confidence boost, which will probably fire him up for more title winning chances.. Can't wait for O'Sullivan-Williams
But until then, we have a good schedule today, and I expect Maguire-Day to be the match of the day, as Day looked sharp in demolishing Perry, and Maguire will certainly up his game at QF stage. All the way Mark J!!
