Not really. That is the only channel it is available on outside Africa, so it is understandable why they want to show it to other people outside Africa.

I'm ok with African Cup of Nations, but they stopped the coverage of a snooker match to televise Benin-Malawi

Ivory Coast-Ghana is acceptable, or Algeria-Egypt.. But why not choosing the games more spesifically and make both sides happy? It's all down to agreements, though. They don't have an option to do so, which leaves European snooker fans in desperacy..

Could be more than you think, most of the players participating are playing in European competetions.
I saw that going differently in my mind

Another thing is that Eurosport will be presuming that most people who watch the Snooker are UK based, and they will have BBC, unfortunatley, that presumption is incorrect.

The way that football has moved on, this is what it is turning into. Less and less players are actually english that play in england now.

I had heard of those countries, but have no idea where they stand on the world map..

Also, I agree that it's a big event for Europe, though, there is one thing that I find hard to understand.

Eurosport has had no live coverage for World Cup 2006 or Euro 2008, and it's almost certain that this will not be changing in anytime soon.. So, why do they pass over the most important events of modern football and insist on televising group stages of African Cup of Nations? I mean, I've had chances to have a look at some matches there, and didn't enjoy them, as there was some scrappy football, equivalent to Maguire v. King in snooker

Same again they cover the pre-Wimbledon tournaments in tennis and not the event itself

Indeed, most of the time Arsenal is even playing with zero english players.
The Premier league is one of the best competitions in the world but doesn't reflect the strength of Brittish football, as you can see in the national team

There is just no way they could afford the big two tournaments. They are sold individually in every country, and those are exclusive deals of course. That's why Eurosport can only show the matches some time later, when they've lost their value.

But the African Cup must be pretty cheap because nobody is really after those rights.
