Yeah sorry indeed.. Even more so if you cheer for Williams. They were both so dangerous single mistakes were more than enough to lose frames (not at all like some Day-Maguire match, where it was more of a guessing will they be able to make over 20 break this time or not). Pitty you know the score.

    • I really hope that next time he wins a match, Ronnie's going to do 4 cartwheels, utter 7 W0000000000t! cries and jump around a la Tom Cruise on Oprah's couch, roaring YES, YES, YES, I STUFFED THE MOFO SO AND SO!!!, wiggling his hips in a suggestive, thrusting motion.

...only to be pilloried for disrespecting his opponent, making a mockery out of the sport, bringing the game into disrepute blah-blah etc so on and so forth.

Which in this case would be totally deserved.

While he'd like to to this for the future of snooker:
“I have wanted to give something back to snooker. The grass roots are very important to me. [...]I also feel like I owe the game for the life it has given me."

      Truer words...

      • LOL, funny that some of you are exhausted and are not going to watch the second match... You'd have to drag me away from the screen tonight, no way I'm missing that one. Might not be as good as the first semi, but I'm not going to miss any Masters semi-final match if I can help it.

The Welsh Open is around the corner, but after that there's almost two months without proper snooker. I'll watch whatever I can before that.

I've already spoken about the match on this thread, and I'll stick with my prediction of 6-4(ish) in favour of Selby tonight.

          • Hopefully Williams builds on this. He showed his class and that he is back in form. Although, this is certainly a bitter one to swallow. For me this semi goes down as the best match of this season (so far). Looking forward to Welsh and hopefully good performances from him.

                Yes!
Williams is one of my favourite players and great to see him "back".
It's significant that the highest levels of quality play this year have come from some of
the most tried & true "Masters" of snooker... O'Sullivan, Williams, and Hendry.
                Pure class.

agreed, although I feel that his long potting is not quite up to the standards he was setting 10 years ago. If he can improve in that area, he will win tournaments again, including the 'big one'!

                    • How has nobody picked up on Ronnie's antics in the final frame? After potting the last brown, he went and played the blue left handed. This was still a very important ball, and he was clearly taking the ****. Then when Williams played on to get the snooker's, he started acting the bollox, not attempting to pot the blue on numerous obvious occasions, just trying to antagonize Williams.

He has stated in the past that he doesnt get on with Mark, but this was out of order.

Yes there is room for improvement in that department. But I'm glad he's scoring well among the balls again. There were times that he had difficulties string up a 30 break... And he's not missing silly balls.

                        • Feel so sorry for Mark after all these years in the wilderness it,s great to see him hitting the ball so sweet , and he seems one of the most genuine , likeable and modest guys on the circuit to go with it . For me he,s a legend and is up there with the greatest of all time . Jp and SD were spot on in saying that Mark should have taken the pink instead of the black when he ran out of position in the decider .

This is just one of those things that is easily said in a commentary box...

Why hasn't the second semi started yet?
Ten reds and not a colour...

                            • you seem to know something we don't and maybe ronnie himself dosen't -- ronnie said in a very recent interview that hes potting better with his left hand right now than right. i saw no antics, just great snooker.

Interesting comment. I was debating myself as to whether he was deliberately trying to mess around with the blue or not- he turned down a couple of attempts, and 3 of his attempts to pot it were not even close.
                                Probably no malice there though.....
