  • Stephen Maguire yesterday play

What do people think of his play altogether?

Yes he got that brilliant 140 break but did you see some of the shots he played???

He should have easily won several of the frames that Selby clinched.

There was several 'safety' shots that went all to the bollocks, the one I recall the most was he played a safety on a red on the right side of the table and he double kissed it coming back up, others was hitting the balls so hard wobbling out the pockets white ball stayed at bottom of the table, Selby took full advantage.

      Glad that Selby wins..
      Always prefer Selby over Maguire.

Selby will punish you whenever you make a mistake

I quite like Maguire and would have liked to have seen him win this event but his temperament isn't the best and he doesn't seem to be enjoying his snooker at the moment. Every time I read his post-match comments on the World Snooker website he seems to be talking about how badly he's playing and how he doesn't want to be out there and it shows in his performances. Lost the plot a bit after 3-3 yesterday.

He's still got time to get back to the consistent form that he showed during 2007/8 but he can't leave it too much longer really as he should probably be at his peak right now.

Mark said something like... In short...he thought he could do a number on maguire if he put a bit of pressure on him, he can be a big baby at times and spit his dummy, He needs a bib, it's ridiculous etc...

That aint word for word tho, my memory is rubbish, and i'm sure i missed bits out, prob the best bits knowing my memory.....Something along those lines anyway...

It was In the same interview when he mentioned the old guy's slagging him off...

Someone might have a link to it. i looked on youtube for it but cant find it..

I actually think there both decent enough guys but Maguire should have choose different shots on some of his shot types and he let Selby in numerous of times... I liked Selbys missus grin when it showed you too she seems a lovely lass.

                    Hmm

Im not overly keen on Maguire. There is no doubting his potential, however, he needs to realise this potential soon. Sometimes it seems hes more concerned with his technique than potting balls. Also, at times he pulls the cue back very far, then decelerates through the ball, and i feel his tantrums draw him the wrong kind of attention.

At the moment he is a disappointing world number 2

I like Maguire and his approach to the game. He's a great player and there's no doubt in my mind that he wouldn't win loads of tournaments in the future.

Maguire got some form into the semis but not enough...looks like the main problem of Maguire is putting too much pressure on himself

Yeah I was wondering the same thing, hardly anything that stands out hugely he does is there? Unless of course I'm messing something...

Mostly I mean his seriousness about his game. No joking around there, Stephen Hendry kind of attitude. Proud player. I like that.
