I was going along the line of thought that the only people who could reasonably complain if Matthew was seeded first are those who didn't get a chance to win the tournament last year. And, realistically, there isn't anyone, since all of them were invited. It'd be different if we were talking about a smaller invitational like the Premier League, or a pro-am.
If you're saying its sad that we don't have too many dangerous players outside the top 16 now, I'd have to consider the likes of Day, Selby and Cope to be coming into contention. Then there's those unpredictable ones like Murphy who can spring almost from nowhere. If we had too many obvious tournament winners outside the top 16 then you'd have to say the ranking system wasn't doing it's job.
