I was talking about last year, they weren't in the top 16 then (although Murphy effectively was, he was technically ranked 21).

I was going along the line of thought that the only people who could reasonably complain if Matthew was seeded first are those who didn't get a chance to win the tournament last year. And, realistically, there isn't anyone, since all of them were invited. It'd be different if we were talking about a smaller invitational like the Premier League, or a pro-am.

If you're saying its sad that we don't have too many dangerous players outside the top 16 now, I'd have to consider the likes of Day, Selby and Cope to be coming into contention. Then there's those unpredictable ones like Murphy who can spring almost from nowhere. If we had too many obvious tournament winners outside the top 16 then you'd have to say the ranking system wasn't doing it's job.

Looks like a very tough draw for Ronnie and Graeme Dott is seeded number 1. Fu, Selby or Swail could possibly win their quarter. Makes for very interesting reading.
Doesn't look THAT tough. I think Robertson is going to finally fulfil his potential and make the final.

        Jimmy White vs. Jimmy Michie.

I wonder if there will be any spectators shouting, 'COME ON JIMMY!' and will there be any confusion as to which Jimmy they mean?

I honestly hope White wins it, he's still my favourite player. Surely he must be able to beat Michie?

He got beaten some minutes ago by Jimmy Michie (5-3).
He came back from 4-1 to 4-3, but didn't manage to force a deciding frame... too bad !!!!!

His bid to get back in the top 16 becomes more and more uncertain, to say the least !

What a terrible start to the season for White.
Looks like a long, hard season ahead for him, hope he improves quickly.

I notice that Jimmy was not alone!

Of those seeded to today's round, only four of the 16 made it – Greene, Dale, Lawler and Judge.

All the others started out at the previous round, except for Tian Pengfei who came from the first of the three rounds.

Went to Pontins today... John Parrott. He lost 5-1 but I've seen him play worse. Missed a very easy pink in the 1st frame to go 1-0 up...
                  His highest break was 47.

Jimmy Whites game was good too. White didnt play too well.
They had cameras there for that match, and showed it on the 'Pontins TV Channel' but they were more like 2 cheap security cameras and I dont think there was any scoreboard for it either.

They also had numbered seats for the White match(never seen it before), and different tickets for it. All the seats were taken.

Your obsession with this kid is...creepy.

I very much doubt he'll win anything this year, except maybe Junior Pot Black or something important like that.
