ranking points

I heard or read something somewhere about a new system for the ranking ponts for this tournament. I believe that the newcomers to the tour this season or those ranked outside the top 64 are getting double points for every win in this tornament in order to help them catch up with the top players ?

Ok its an innovative idea but not very fair on those who have made it to the top the hard way ?

Anyone know the full details of what is happening ?and if its just for this tournament, or for all ranking tournies this season ?

No m8 that's not the case, they do however receive 4100 starter points which balances the rankings up for them.

Thanks for your reply Snooky. However, and I dont mean to be contradictory, but I still have a little bee in my bonnet about this one as I think I remember where I heard about this now. I think it was Mike ganley being inteviewed during a mid session interview on TG4. Problem was I walked into the room halfway through what he was saying, so didnt get the full story. Anyone else see it ?

I guess we will know for sure when we see the ranking points on Worldsnooker.com after the tournie is all over.
