Yes, he should have won. Only got himself to blame, but Gould will have to up his game in the next round against Hendry.
Shame though, I was looking forward to a Stevens v Hendry clash.
Every credit to Gould though, he held his nerve well at the end.
Stevens and Hendry are too much rated on past achievements. At present they can be beaten by anyone. Hendries form UK semi, will definitely give him the win, but Hendries form Final UK he can be beaten easily. Just mentioning this as his form changed dramatically just within a single day.
If you can't beat lowly ranked players like Gould then you have no hope of getting back into the 16.
Unfortunately he still have every chance. A good run at the worlds and he is in the top 16 again.
But with only preparing for this event, he doesn't deserve a place there, in my opinion.
Jesus, what a bad match!
But cheers to Mr. Gould. The whole match, his face was familiar, now i have found: http://www.klosterschule.de/frontend/file.php?id=201
that is Ulrich-Wilhelm Graf Schwerin von Schwanenfeld.
Let's hope that Hendry in *that* form (assuming he shows up in the state he was at Grand Prix) won't be 0-5 for Gould.
I don't believe this. Hendry wouldn't play such risky balls in the wrong moment like Stevens did. A bit more concentration on Stevens side and he had won this match.
Gould, who? Never have I seen him play before but he's quite a talent from what I saw. He's ranked in the 80's too, which is a shock. I suppose Stevens won't be back in the Top 16 any time soon

I'm watching the Greene match at the moment. It's 1 frame to Greene. He's a good player, i'm betting he'll win the match. On an addition thought, how weird it is that suddenly all the seeded players are being knocked out by unknowns.
Quote (Hegeland). "So many people still saying Stevens is class this and so capable that, the reality is that he is a 30 year old who has won one ranker in all his years and is not in the top 16. Yes he has played some good snooker in his day, but so has many else. Nothing special, IMHO."
Could not have said it better.
Furthermore, if I can recall it well. (you can correct me if I am wrong) he even did not get to a semi final in a ranking tournament since may 2005!
