its your right to have a go, if you dont rate him. many players i dont rate.

when you come away with silly things like not having been in a semi in a ranker in 2 years or so, when id imagine only about 2 dozen or so players out of the millions who play the game in the world have done, then id say "hes still good"

ok, hes not filled his potential, but you just babble when you slate him, with no substance. his record is better than most pros over the last 15 years IMHO

    Sir

    • Well, semifinal in Sheffield is nothing to be ashamed of

It doesn't mean that I'm defending Stevens - it's the last thing I want to do now since I was so hoping to see Stevens-Hendry match and now I'm angry.
He's definitely not the best. But he's not that bad either.

      • Mentioning facts (qoute by hegeland), 1 ranking win, 2 quarters since 2005, babble and slate?

Next one, saying he is not in the top 16 anymore, getting a court order? haha

Agree with you there Darrus, not the best, not bad either.

yes, slate, in response to you saying you "have a go"...i call that slate.

babble, cos, although im not saying your facts are wrong [i dont care if they are or arent]....i dont think the facts youve used make him a bad player, when you look at the big picture of who has aheived more than him...out of millions who play the game.

(i wont be discussing this further on here. happy to discuss on [another] thread about it, but its not really about the tournament now)

          or by PM

          cheers

I didn't know your age, Paul. But do you remember Stevens play in the wc's in 2000-2005? He was so impressive! He so often prove his class, I don't understand your dislike.
I am not a fan of his game now, so I think his ranking number 20 is the right place for him now.

                • OMG! Can't believe Matt lost!
He seemed to lack focus and confidence and was going for ridiculous shots! That's the worst I've seen him play in a long time

Oh,come on! Of course he will! He's provisionally no. 12 (I think) and apart from this match he's actually been playing quite well this season.

Well, provisionally he's 11 but officially, 20. That will go down after the North Ireland Trophey finishes. That performance by Shaun Murphy must have really stunned him. It definitely undermined his confidence though.

I don't think he will this season. There are players below him playing a lot better than him. Swail, Perry, Fu, Doherty, Cope, Dale, Lee are all below him and these players are getting the results rather than Stevens. Since his 2003 UK Championship win he has appeared in two finals, one semi and two quarters in 32 major tournaments. Thats is crap for a player of his 'so called' standard.

                      • yeh alex your spot on fu played a blinder on sunday night against gunnell didnt he , just becase he won the grand prix doesnt mean he will play well for he rest of the season so in my opinion stevens will be ranked higher than fu at the end of the season and to siggest stephen lee is playing better than stevens is a joke he is a negatove player and will drop out of the top 16 this season
so to sum up stevens will finish the season ranked higher han fu and lee
Robbo Unbeatable in ranking finals 6 out of 6

                        COME ON ROBBO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But the thing is both Stephen Lee and Marco Fu have recently won titles whereas Stevens hasn't. If Lee is so 'negatove' then why is he ranked ahead of Stevens? You say just because Fu won the Grand Prix doesn't mean he will play well for the rest of the season is stupid as you cannot say for sure if anyone will play well for the rest of the season, just because Stevens won a ranking title and did well in a few tournaments years ago doesn't mean he should be above Fu.

                            • I am glad to see that I scored 5 points out of the remaining last 3 matches. I needed those as the rest of the matches had me scoring next to nothing. :-)
