Just noticed that all the higher ranked players seeded through to the last 48 won their matches this morning, forming a solid wall that no qualifier could get over.
The first of the lower ranked players get through: Mark Davis wins 5-2 against Jamie Burnett.

A great week for Jimmy, had half expected Tom Ford to be too tough a hurdle even though he hasn't really fulfilled his potential over the last couple of seasons.
He manges to qualify for the first event this season with 1 extra round to play, when he only qualified for 1 event in the whole of last season, playing 1 round less !
Hope he keeps it going in the next round and following tournaments!!

I've just come home and saw the result...great comeback from Jim... as i said ( and others aswell ) in a previous post, this season he looks mentally stronger and he keeps fighting...great job, coming back from 2-0 and against Ford a fairly good player....
I'll be back this year......

Surely hes not doing a Ronnie and taken a dislike to playing overseas.
Back to the NI and Jimmy has pulled one back to 1-2 against Ford.

JP has charity engagements which were made before the dates of the qualifying were known.

Fantastic weekend for Jimmy - I thought Davies would beat him, and I was convinced Ford would beat him, so I'm delighted to be proved wrong. Looking forward to seeing him in Belfast

Well done Jimmy !!!! I just can't beleive it !!!!
I followed the live scoring on WorldSnooker until Ford was 2-1 up and had a good chance to be 3-1 in front, so I thought Jimmy had a mountain to climb and definitely couldn't make it.... So when I saw the result this morning, I really thought it was an error... But he did it !
I'm so delighted !!!!!!
The US Open of Tennis will be under way on that week and they are going to focus their attentions on that event. Nevertheless, there will be LIVE Snooker from Monday till Friday, from 13:00 to 16:30. No coverage on Saturday and LIVE again on Sunday for the final from 19:30 to 22:30.
