Great that he won and produced some decent breaks, but I would so love to see him put in a few more gears. Its absolutely necessary against a very in-form Liang Wenbo, who might well do a Ding here and win it all. He's just like Ding mentally though I think, if Higgins comes to the table in form and starts off with some of his best act Liangs inexperience will shine through I think.

But it would be so nice with Higgins in the form he had before the 2006 WC, with his finals against Ronnie (twice, and among them the Masters final he won 10-9, the best game I've ever seen), Ken at Malta and Williams in China. That was Higgins as he should be. I don't like it when he realises he is mortal and loses silly games against mere men.

I think Stevens talent probably exceeds Day, but apart from that its an apt analogy. They both lack a certain something that makes me, and probably their opponents too, doubt that they will pull it off.

The same thing that makes them drop seven frames on the spin against Murphy in Sheffield... probably the nail in the coffin of Stevens career, that match.

our commentator said a wee ago that the match Day-Prettman is not over yet. It stopped at the score 4-4 , the decider is due to start after either of the matches in the evening session are over. But on GSC i saw the score is 5-4 to Day.. Which one is it ?
