The same here, Barry's best performances last season were a couple of last 16 and slipped back to number 27. So definite picked up his form again this season.

Anyone who knows what is happening on the other table. Lots of shouting going on.

I see the world snooker scoring has gone down as usual - I think it's happened every day this week.

It's 3-2 to Ali Carter on GSC. Allen was in first in each of the first four frames, but doesn't look to be too clinical today, so it looks like a scrappy match with chances going begging for both.

Similar story in last two frames for Mark Allen- crowd lively suggesting he had a few chances, but couldn't finish. Obviously, as it wasn't televised, who knows, but definitely disappointing from Allen.

Meanwhile, 4-4, with Hawkins coming back from 4-1 . Ronnie in first, but missed a cut black off the spot!

Barry had every chance to win that match. 5-4 O'Sullivan but could have been 7-2 Hawkins over the 9 frames.

Phew, I'm really glad Ronnie won it in the end, I had an opportunity to get a 17 against 1 bet on Hawkins at 4-1 when Ronnie seemed to stagger mentally, but I thought there was no real chance for Hawkins to win, so I didn't bet.. If Hawkins would have won it I would be gutted to say the least.

barry performance was outstanding...never seen him playing like that and being so motivated.at the begining of the match i could have bet that ronnie will win it 5-0 or 5-1 but 5-4,the high quality snooker and the comeback that barry made...all those made this game look like a final.

did u see barry's face after the game?it almost made me burst into tears...he was so close of beating ronnie (and not anyway but from 1-4 down)

I bet Barry doubled his fan base with that determined effort. Well done!
Stay tuned for a quality next three matches... a great start to the season.

Hawkins started to play better after he saw Ronnie getting frustrated. We all know how Ronnie's like, so he started to fancy his chances after the cue slapping incident. At 4-4 though he was becoming the favourite to win after the great comeback, and pressure got to him (and Ronnie played good as well).

It is amazing that such a small display of negativity by Ronnie changed the whole match. Snooker is such a tough game mentally.

I didn't watch the match, but fair play to the Bazza for fighting it out. Two different match ups tomorrow. The Captain faces his idol, who he's never beaten while the Butcher will aim to make mince meat of the Pastry Cook. Who's hungriest?
