Poor Dave, would have been a great consolation if he'd have got the max.

As I haven't caught any of the NI Trophy on the telly, can anyone tell me what sort of form Ronnie's in at the moment? Obviously he's not doing badly if he's winning in the final.. but you know what I mean (:

Think he's been on for 2 or three in this event.

I like how Fergal remembered that Paul Hunter was 7-2 down to Ronnie O'Sullivan in the Masters Final, and still won. He conveniently forgot that he led 6-2 against Hunter and lost 10-9...

He's made one century in this match, but apart from that he hasn't looked too bothered and just taken his opportunities when he needed to. Harold has played poorly today. I think Ronnie will win most tournaments this season though because of a better attitude. I think he can win every tournament as the other players don't look sharp at all

Think one of the reasons he may look as if he's not too bothered is that he's so far in front it's a little difficult to stay focused all the time. If he carries on like he did the end of last season and start like he has at the begining of this he is likely to have the most tournament wins. Still it's very early days so no point getting carried away

I think no one played particularly well in this tournament and there weren't many good matches, which is understandable as we're still in August. Anyway, only O'Sullivan showed the killer instinct to take this one.

                  Another anti-climax final nontheless.

OH and on the bright side my prevision for the final was right 9-3.

He's a great player but has a personality a lot of people don't take to

O Sullivan makes his intentions for this season quite clear with his overall performance in the NIT so early in the season. Can only see him get stronger as the season continues!

Yes, I can agree with that. Well done for Ronnie, a pretty convincing win in the end.

Not surprising, they way things went, but still well done Ronnie.

I would advise against getting carried away and proclaiming him the winner of every tournament to come this season though. Even winning more than one a season is a mighty difficult task, and winning as many as three is very rare. We're early on in the season and many players looked mighty rusty. Higgins didnt really play his potential at any point and still was on the brink of reaching the final. Ding was a mess, Maguire struggled in every game etc. Come Shanghai and the Grand Prix we are likely to see a lot of players in much better shape. Certainly Ronnie will be sky high favorite for every single crown, but this was august and it wont be as easy early on.

Plus, it wasnt easy this time around either. 5-4, 5-3, 5-4, 6-5 in the matches up till the final, thats very close calls.
