  • Players Tour

I see more info was released today with split (presumably due to Pat Mooney's demise) 6 UK 6 non-UK.

Has anyone heard what the ranking point and prize money structure will actually be?

How many ranking points available relative to other events may go a significant way to dictating how popular these events are

info released on WPBSA site today

    http://www.worldsnooker.com/PTC1_new...36.htm?tid=166

so prize money and ranking points now for top 64.
from a quick look at the points available it looks like the current points structure will remain in place for the new season.
also the points for each event will surely encourage most top players to enter.

All matches are best of 7

So to clarify... amateurs can't actually qualify for Main Tour status via the PTCs?

OK thanks. That's what I thought, but I was chatting to someone who thought he could qualify that way.

            Qualifying criteria for 2011/12 =
Top 64 from World Ranking list
8 MAIN TOUR players from 2010/11 PTC Rankings
            12 International & NGB Qualifiers
            (IBSF WC, IBSF WU21, Europe x 2, Asia x 3, England 1, Scotland 1, Wales 1,N.Ireland 1, Rep of Ireland 1)
            12 Q Scool Tour Card

Can anybody clarify what this means -
" WPBSA members may not requalify onto The Tour via an amateur event which carries a guaranteed tour place in the season immediately following"

Does this mean that if you drop off the tour in May 2011 you cannot compete in the say EASB events 2011/12 - or if you do and you win the nomination will not be accepted? Confused!!

This is standard and hasn't changed. A pro player can't qualify back via an amateur route in the same season that he loses his tour place.

As an example David Hogan was on MT 2009-10 but lost his place. He is competing in the Euro champs here in Bucharest as defending champion, but should he win again is not eligible for the Main Tour place.

I think some of the amateur boys may be getting confused with events like World Open where if they qualify they are competing in a Main Tour ranking event but it's not a direct route to full tour status.

As I understand it the EPTCs across Europe will take "leading amateur" from some events for the "Road to Berlin" and that will be how they get some of the amateur qualifiers for the Berlin Masters next February.

And that's similar to the World Open in Glasgow that there are various routes open to the amateurs to go direct into that "one" event.

no what it means is that if you drop off the tour in May 2011 whilst you can enter the qualifying school to rejoin the tour in June 2011, you cannot rejoin the tour in June 2011 by winning the Euro Champs or the Asian Champs that happen around that time (just like David Hogan is currently defending his Euro title if he does he will not get back on tour)

EASB events in 2011/12 are to qualify for the tour starting in June 2012 which is a seasons gap and therefore ok.

                  trust that makes sense

At least it looks like with BH there will be a 96 man Tour in 2011/12 - does anybody know if the new proposals will be sticking with 96? With everything mentioning Top 64 I wonder!!

The six-year licence is apparently for a Main Tour of 96, so guaranteed 96 until 2015/16 season, with Hearn's proposals.
