then Start on Friday at 10am,12pm,2pm,4pm,5pm and 7pm on a roll on roll off basis.

it can not be good when a Reporter like Janie wishing for some 4-0 just so it helps to speed things up.
Exactly the scenario I was thinking of, plus fit in the last 32 on sunday, as it looks like we'll be done by 7-ish.

Absolutey pathetic. A disgraceful scenario, especially as these have ranking points involved. Not a situation, professional players should be put under. These tournaments are meant to give them extra match practice under similar conditions to ranking match tournaments. How can you compere these. Yes obviously the players are grateful for the opportunity to be playing extra events, but definately a nono in these conditions. And to make matters worse, there is not even air conditioning. Come on Barry, lets get this sorted mate!

            No Air Conditioning!
            Not Enough Tables!
            No Practice Table!
            No Spectators Allowed!
            No Live Streaming!
            Live Scoring Is A Joke!

Players have to be there on time for their matches, and cannot leave the players room, just in case their match gets called out. On average some of these players are waiting around for 1, 2, 3 and even nearly 4 hours i think for a couple of the late matches. This is totally rediculous and unworkable in these conditions. A thorough re-think we think Mr Hearn, Urgently!

As i mentioned before, what about the new set up at the new 'South-West Academy in Gloucester where the Pink waistcoat was held last week.

            12 match tables.
            8 of them boothed.
            Fully air conditioned.
            1 practice table.
All brand new world snooker star templated match tables.
            Plenty of room for everbody.
1 match table set up in a 400 seater arena, nearly finished.
            Journalist offices.
            Referees & players rooms.
            Equipment room for live scoring.
Plenty of room for live internet streaming

What more could you ask for. And to think this academy is giving all the profits to charity. So everybody should be happy!
You do your name credit, stop whining will you?

Behave yourself. These are meant to be under tournament conditions, not under conditions of the bloody 1970's. So you think its ok to be playing ranking event snooker at 3 in the morning. Bet that was a fantastic match. Who wants to go on at midnight for a best of 7 that could finish at 3 or 4 in the morning, where as you might of been waiting 4 or 5 hours, where is the sense in that. Thats not how snooker should be played for gods sake!

But these things should of been thought out a bit more before these tournaments began. Why have they had to rush them all in so quick? Its great what Hearns doing, but if he is going to do it, make sure he does it right.

He's doing it on the cheap as it is by cramming all the bloody table cubicles in the old academy. Theres no bloody air conditioning, and look at the bloody weather this weekend, and another in two weeks time. Anybody can put on tournaments, but lets do them properly.

Look at that pro-am last week at the south-west academy in gloucester. 128 runners over 4 days on 12 tables. Not one person has made a negative comment about that. Every player, fan and parent had nothing but praise for the venue and the organisers. And that was the first event they have ever run.

Now if people can hold there first ever event without a word of criticism, i would expect world snooker and Barry Hearn to be at least as competent, yes. I like Barry hearn, i want him to do well, but lets make sure he does his home work a bit better from now on, ok.:snooker:

I think this event is great. But I think it would be even greater if it was held somewhere like the new Academy which is a venue purely and solely for snooker.
But if WS have to use Sheffield - why not extend the event into Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday? The "amateur players" would play at the weekend and the "professional players" would be through to Last 32, Quarters etc. over Mon /Tues. Any Amateur qualified to last 32 would surely be OK staying off work etc. having gone that far and for "most" pros they would be OK staying in the week.

Yes, I was thinking earlier, that it would be far more sensible to start on Saturday, minimising the disruption for those lower ranked/amateur players that have other jobs in order to make a living.

Finishing on say the Tuesday would disrupt the fewest players. But since when has World Snooker made common sense decisions?

It's the first event of its kind, so there will obviously be issues that will be raised (by organisers, by players, by fans, etc)

What you need to remember is that as soon as this one is finished, there will be a meeting arranged (one would assume) where all the interested parties (players representative, organisers, World Snooker, etc) will sit together and look at what went well, what went badly and what was OK. They will then prioritise the points raised into those things which need to change urgently, those which need to change over time and those which are "nice to have" but not "necessary".

Then the work starts to make the changes as soon as possible.

Rome wasn't built in a day remember.

I think it was great for the tournament's credibility to have two of the best players in the world contesting in the final.

I'm actually looking forward to the next event. Even without streamings it's good to know the players are in action and actually earning money & ranking points.

As for Williams, it's fairly obvious he's back being a force in the game, and how we need a player of his calibre back to his best, especially after the "loss" of John Higgins.

After Years of non activity as a Proffesional Player Barry and i agree it was essential to get players off their arses and earn the tital of PRO PLAYER.

therefore these was slightly rushed maybe with only 6 months to organise them on top of fighting for the sport and the John Higgins fiasco it meant time to get things spot on was limited

now they got one played they will make changes...Rome was not built in a Day and after years of the Sport being torn down..... in such a short time Barry has only Started to rebuild it.
