  • Pct 1 sheffield!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, from what ive heard, it does not look like the players are happy with the way the first event is panning out. With the old academy at the instittute of sport, being the venue instead of the set up they had for the qualifiers down stairs last season, a way of saving money, it looks as though ther will have to be a rethink on this, or the events need to be changed and played at a more suitable venue, maybe the new snooker academy in gloucester or similar.

8 tables have been cubicled off, but no spectators other than 2 each from each player are allowed to watch any of the games, as there simply is not the room. This is obviously a complete joke, and needs a thorough rethink. It looks as though Hearn has not put much thought into this one, and needs to do something quick.

Besides the venus set up being all wrong, whilst i was there, matches were being overun, players were waiting around for hours on end not knowing what to do, sitting around falling asleep, not being able to go nowhere, as they had to be available for when their names were called out to go on, ssome player were having to wait i think at least 2,3, up to 4 hours to get on to play some of their matches in the last 32, as it was a roll on, roll off scenario, and alot of the matches were not starting until 10.30--11 o/c at night, therefore, were not finishing until 12.30---1.30---2 o/c in the morning.

As i did not stay until the end, i am not sure what the latest finish was, so perhaps somebody else can update us on the latest finish. This obviously is totally unacceptable in a professional sport, to be treating players to conditions like this. How can you have players sitting around for 2-4 hours, late at night, bored out of their skulls, half falling asleep, then expect them to play a match at 11-12 o/c at night is absolutely rediculous. How on earth would you expect players to perform to the best of their ability in conditions like this.

This is a bit like going back to pontins and playig the midnight flyers. The difference being, the players careers and raking points are at stake. Also, i doubt the referee's would of been that happy, being there all day until late at night, now having to go back early this morning.

Until Hearn gets the full rundown on the situation, there is not a lot that can be done, and this is only the first event of 6 here. Lets hope that when he does get a briefing of the event, he acts quickly and does something about it. If the qualifiers for the main ranking events are to be held here like this, it would be a travesty. No spectators at all, no room to swing a cat.

Well Mr Hearn, not a very good start and some disgruntled coments on the start of what should of been an exciting phase for the players. Lets hope you got the initiative to act accordingly and quickly, as i am sure you will.

It means more snooker though, which I'm happy with. I think this one is just a trial run to see if things go well, and he will definatley amend them to how he sees fit.

Last match off was Mark Davis v Matthew Couch. they'd gone on last to play and their match went the distance 4-3 and ended at sometime after 3am. I got back to the hotel at 3.30am

I wish! No I've been at the venue since 9am and don't really anticipate finishing much earlier tonight than last night. Although I am praying for lots of quick 4-0s today!!

the most disappointing thing for me is the lack of live streaming, a few things need to be ironed out but i would love to see these events

Not trying to be disrespectful, but why can't people get into their skull that THESE EVENTS ARE NOT DESIGNED TO BE SHOWN ON TV/INTERNET! This model is based on the PDC Darts Pro Tour where there are no spectators (except guests) and no tv/internet coverage. This system works perfectly gives players more playing opportunity for decent prize money pots. It also relaxes players from having the pressure of being televised.

Having said that, there are slight changes I would make:

                    1. Reduce the amateur qualifiers, last 128 and last 64 to best of 5 frames.
                    2. Move to a bigger venue - what about going back to the Norbreck Castle? You need at least 12-16 tables. The logistics would make it easier to have 16 tables, so players are based on one table only. For example, Ronnie being the top of the draw would be based on table one and Stephen Maguire, based on table 16.

And why not? Snooker Championship league is without spectators, but you can watch it through some betting websites. Anyway, what's the point of having a tournament if nobody can see it?

Oh please God, no, no, NO!

For one thing it would be costly to have tables especially put in to a venue like Norbreck, umpteen times a year, just a for a few days at a time, and secondly it's far too big. The Ballroom used to have 22 tables I think. For PTC events you really don't need anything like that many: 12 perhaps would make life easier.

Another bloody late one. Judds match on until gone 2 o/c in the morning. This series is definately not going to work unless some Ugent changes are put in place for the next one. How on earth are these players meant to sit around all day, in the sweltering heat, waiting to play their matches, don't know what bloody time they are going to get on, and then try and perform to your best ability.

Absolutey pathetic. A disgraceful scenario, especially as these have ranking points involved. Not a situation, professional players should be put under. These tournaments are meant to give them extra match practice under similar conditions to ranking match tournaments. How can you compere these. Yes obviously the players are grateful for the opportunity to be playing extra events, but definately a nono in these conditions. And to make matters worse, there is not even air conditioning. Come on Barry, lets get this sorted mate!

                          No Air Conditioning!
                          Not Enough Tables!
                          No Practice Table!
                          No Spectators Allowed!
                          No Live Streaming!
                          Live Scoring Is A Joke!

Players have to be there on time for their matches, and cannot leave the players room, just in case their match gets called out. On average some of these players are waiting around for 1, 2, 3 and even nearly 4 hours i think for a couple of the late matches. This is totally rediculous and unworkable in these conditions. A thorough re-think we think Mr Hearn, Urgently!

As i mentioned before, what about the new set up at the new 'South-West Academy in Gloucester where the Pink waistcoat was held last week.

                          12 match tables.
                          8 of them boothed.
                          Fully air conditioned.
                          1 practice table.
All brand new world snooker star templated match tables.
                          Plenty of room for everbody.
1 match table set up in a 400 seater arena, nearly finished.
                          Journalist offices.
                          Referees & players rooms.
                          Equipment room for live scoring.
Plenty of room for live internet streaming

What more could you ask for. And to think this academy is giving all the profits to charity. So everybody should be happy!

The PTC needs to extend to 4 days .

there was a day on Thursday where they started Qualifiers at 3pm why not start them at 10am then get 2 sessions of Last 128 in whitch would be 5 sessions thursday 6 sessions on Friday and 6 sessions on Saturday instead of 7 Sessions Friday and Saturday.

then Start on Friday at 10am,12pm,2pm,4pm,5pm and 7pm on a roll on roll off basis.

it can not be good when a Reporter like Janie wishing for some 4-0 just so it helps to speed things up.
