PTCs are *NOT* a route to getting on the Main Tour for amateurs.

PTCs do, however, provide match practice against the best players in the game, and the chance to earn some decent prize money.

Ryan, you have four possible routes to getting on Main Tour:
      1. Win the EASB Pro Ticket Tour (guaranteed nomination).
      2. Do well enough in EASB's PTT to get selected for the IBSF World Championship, the winner of which gets a nomination.
      3. Enter the EASB Q-School Satellite competitions, which start off at just £10 entry fee for the first stage (and eventual qualifiers will have their £1000 fee paid for entry to next May's WSA Q-School).
      4. Pay £1000 to enter the Q-School directly, next May.

Jimmy white ptc 2 & snooker legends

          Dear All,
I wanted to get a few things straight about Jimmys match scheduling in PTC 2 next week. As many forum members know I am the guy who created Snookerlegends some 18 months ago when the organization was not only doing bugger all for the current players but absolutely nothing for the senior legends who made snooker what is was in the 70's and 80's.

Many of you have been supportive of my efforts to get these events off the ground and many of you have attended a legends event and emailed or told me in person how much you have enjoyed our format. Jimmy White signed a contract with me 12 months ago, 12 months ago there were I think 6 ranking events (correct me if I am wrong) and there were no tournaments in May or July 2010.

By the time the PTC was created over 600 snooker fans had already parted with their hard earned money to get the chance to see the whirlwind and the other legends play in their home town of Plymouth, however first and foremost Jimmy is a professional snooker player contracted to World Snooker and wants to play in every ranking event he can - its a shame a few more of the top 16 don't share his passion for the rejuvination of the game.

So it wasn't Jimmy who asked Barry Hearn or World Snooker to accomodate him, or do him any favours, it was me who spoke with Barry to try to accomodate a situation where he could still compete in Sheffiled but also fulfill his commitment to his fans in Plymouth.

Barry Hearn doesn't earn a penny from snookerlegends, in fact you could argue he could lose money at premier league events if people have chosen ours to attend instead but what he realzies, like I do, is that we have a commitment to snooker fans all over the world to deliver on our promises. We promised Jimmy to Plymouth and plymouth will get him!

12 months ago I wouldn't have even bothered to lift the phone, and indeed near on 1000 fans would have left plymouth dissapointed that Jimmy didn't play for them.

The 8 players affected by the rescheduling have all received a letter from World Snooker and myself explaining the situation.

I am entirely independent of any organization or promoter, but I can only praise Barry and Freya at World Snooker for actually realizing that those snooker fans in plymouth are just as important to the game of snooker as every other fan who comes along to support the game across any format, be it world snooker, legends, matchroom, world series or one four seven. Its at exhibitions and events like ours that a young child may first get the bug for snooker, pick up a cue and 15 years down the line become a professional player.

The final point I make is that it is in fact myself who is paying for the private plane and pilot to make sure Jimmy arrives for the event, the cost of that will seriously compromise any profit I make from that event but I want those fans to come to many more legends events. I couldn't do anything about Alex
Higgins appearing but I could with Jimmy... do you really blame me for trying?

This is how the 2011/12 Main Tour will be arrived at (from the PTC Player entry pack):

Main Tour Qualifying Criteria 2011/2012 Season: 96 players determined as follows:
Top 64 from the official (two-year) World Ranking list at the end of 2010/2011 season - 64
Next 8 Main Tour players from 2010/2011 PTC Rankings - 8
              International Champions and NGB Qualifiers (IBSF World Champion/IBSF WU21 Champion/Europe x 2/Asia x 3/England x 1/Wales x 1/Scotland x 1/N Ireland x 1/Rep of Ireland x 1) - 12
              Q School Tour Card - 12
              Total = 96

no this has nothing to do with snooker legends tour Jimmy was comited to that therefore it was only right he played in that and not enter the PTC or more acurate the PTC tell him he cant play its that simple.

You do have a valid point. I have read and understood the discussion, and by rights, though unfortunate, Jimmy should have withdrawn from this event. If he had booked this exhibition 12 months ago then the ptc came up, unfortunate for him, he should of chosen one or the other. If he wants to keep his fans happy, then the exhibition he must do.

Someone said these events are an experiment and are not really important, or along those lines. What a load of tosh, these are bloody ranking events, and they could mean the staying on or being relegated off the main tour at the end of the season, and the ranking changes at each interval. So these are really important events, especially for the Jimmy Whites and players around that ranking, hence why he wants to play in them. If there were no points involved, he would not have worried.

Barry Hearn is setting a precedent here though. What he is doing is technically wrong and he know's it, but he is also trying to please the player and the public. Its good promotion for snooker, but a lot of the other players know that they would not of got the same treatment. And that is where it is so unfair. Now he has done it for White i cannot see how he can refuse the same for many of the other players.

Where will he draw the line. Exhibitions = ok. Another tournament = Maybe?
Wedding = Doubtfull. Holidays = Definately no. Funeral = Maybe? Christening = Doubtfull. Promotional work for your sponsor = No. promotional work for world snooker = Yes. Its a bit pathetic really. One tourny or the other i'm afraid. But now he has done this, its open doors!

opinions are great and even more valid when based upon the facts so no intention to rile anyone up and I am not asking you to agree or dissagree with me just telling you how and why it happened and its not Jimmy's doing!

Its not that, Good luck to Jimmy, but it should be granted to other players as well in similar situations, rather than just the elite. Its good that Barry has done this, and i hope he does it all the time if certain occasions arise that warrant it.

Jimmy and the other high profile faces are promoting our sport which is a good thing, its just would they have done the same for Andy Hicks or Barry Pinches. I think not. But, why not?

                              calender

i agree but surely one of the best things about Barry taking over is that we will finally have a calender in place and I, and many other promters can plan other exciting snooker events for fans around it without fear of getting shafted by clashes?

i am a firm supporter of Barry but im no hypocrite if he or anyone else does something wrong in my eyes ill say it no holding back.

as madman said if he gives other players same respect he gave jimmy no matter who they are there is no problem if he don't then its wrong. and i will be watching with intrest throughout the season incase something crops up
