Pre qualifying draw now on WSA site - I assume from this somewhere between 80-86 pros have entered (think it was 81 for event 2)

from a quick analysis 96 players through to main event of which upto 11 could be non-pro tour players who are seeded.
therefore the other 85 are presumably on the main tour. One main tour James Wattana has to pre-qualify.
therefore 86 main tour players in event - so 10 not entered (one of which must be Higgins, I wonder who the other 9 are?)

It was a pretty silly thing from World Snooker to be honest. They scheduled the Shanghai qualifiers along with all of the PTCs back in the provisional schedule. It was obvious there was going to be a clash!
Best of luck anyway with the PTCs when you do enter them again.

Bloody damn right I got my money back! I entered on the Friday, found out on the Saturday about the date change for qualifiers, and phoned up Monday (the closing date) to cancel. I would also have expected a full refund if I'd cancelled after the closing date, they can't move the goalposts and not have flexibility with entries.
It was a pretty bad mistake to make - snooker players (amateur) have other commitments, lives and people to think about and it's hard enough working 40-hour weeks and trying to fit in events like these without them moving dates around at the last minute. As you can tell, I'm not happy about it but what can you do...
I'll be in PTC 5 and 6 hopefully, and (maybe) the Q-School in May.

actually 88 main tour pros have entered event 3.
the 8 who haven't entered are:
Higgins, O'Sullivan, Carter, Ding, Allen, Hendry, Fu and Burnett.
to qualify for the final stages players must participate in at least 3 UK events and 3 Euro events. This means that for Higgins, Ding, Allen and Hendry if they don't enter event 4 (which Higgins won't be able to) they are not eligible to play in the finals event.
If you compare this with darts equivalent Phil Taylor plays enough events to qualify for the finals, van Barneveld hardly plays any and most of the other top players turn up most weekends........
however 88 is I think very impressive - (Ding you better enter event 4 - does anyone know if he will?)
