Mark Selby with what should be a comfortable first round match, then a tricky tie against Greame Dott, who dosen't seem to be doing to well in these events. I'd back Selby to make the last 16 at least.

Why are you saying that? He's my favourite player, so far the best player in the PTC events. Him and Williams have won one each so far. You're a Williams fan, I'm a Selby one, they're both world class players and are two of the best players of the modern generation.

              Who's crap?

In my opinion, Selby is better than Williams, but that dosen't make Williams crap. He's a very good player.

Both are world class players, however I don't agree that Selby is better than Williams. They are quite different players. I think Williams is very natural and fluent whilst Selby is a little more grindy.

Still both cracking players but Williams has achieved far more in the game..... not to say that Selby wont but he is still yet to be crowned world champion which Williams has done twice and Williams has held the world number 1 spot for 3 different seasons.

                  Selby is only about 23?

Still at the beginning of his snooker career really. Williams is nearing the end, I think before they both retire, Selby will have achieved more.

                      We'll see mate.

Selby has already won the Masters twice, Welsh Open once and World Championship runner-up.

What had Williams achieved by this time in his career?

                        Mark Selby is 27.

He has eight more season before he reaches the age where Williams is now, which is basically also the age where snooker players lose their edge a bit. To match Williams' achievements, he would need to win about 15 ranking events in this time, including the WC twice. That's about two ranking events per season, which is something even the likes of Higgins and O'Sullivan have struggled to do recently, so Selby has very little chance. Having said that, the standards at the top of the game are dropping with the decline of the O'Sullivan generation, so someone will have to be winning titles...

But even if (or when) Selby doesn't come close to Williams' achievements over a career, I'm not saying he hasn't been the better player over the last couple of years.

Williams is different class , anyone who knows anything about snooker will realise this . I like selby , he,s one of the few characters the game desperately needs , but dont think he can be compared to williams .

Of course he can be compared to Williams.

Like Odrl said, the likes of Williams and O'Sullivan will be dropping out of the game in a few years.

I think Selby will have won the same, if not more ranking titles, by the time he reaches Williams' age.

Having said that, Williams is probably one of the best players ever to grace the snooker table and I think he deserves massive respect for being at the top of the game for so long.

I know who I would bet aswell, Selby.

Both are inconsistant however, so we hardly see them play there best.
