Tonight was PARTY TIME!
The World Team Speed Cup and the famed players party - you can tell I've sloped off early as I can still just about type!
I am gutted to say that defending champions Wales bowed out in the first round this year at the hands of the Belgians - the BELGIANS!!! so a very grudging!! well done to Chris "I can pot them off the lampshades" Henry, Hans Blanckaert and Bjorn Haneveer. And Huge commiserations to the gallant Welsh team of Mark Williams, Ryan Day and Andrew Pagett. (We will be back!)
Congratulations to the Scots who beat the Irish in the final.
Scottish winners were Marcus Campbell, Alan McManus and Graeme Dott who shared 900 Euros for their efforts.
The Irish team was Mick Judge, Paddy Wallace and Gerard Greene.
There were also teams from Holland, England, "The World", and Germany - who lost to England resoundingly so much cheering from the English!!
The English team was Shaun "the cardigan" Murphy, Ali "fly boy" Carter, and Mark "finger gestures" King!
The World team was weakened by the mysterious disappearance of Neil Robertson, who I think must have caught an early flight after losing earlier.
An hilariously funny and entertaining evening as always with Rolf Kalb a star on one microphone and Bernie Mikelit on the other.
Play starts at 11am Sunday morning so at least a bit of sleep for some us!

Poor live scoring for the quarter finals!! There are four matches. FOUR plus probably the other four of the Plate quarter finals (we know nothing of the results of that competition BTW). OK, eight matches and we can't have live scoring???.... On G-S nothing's changed score-wise for at least 45 minutes....
.... until a minute ago> so we know the first semi final line-up: Shaun Murphy v Judd Trump
Frame scores on worldsnooker.com probably tomorrow....
