  • EPTC Event 4 - Oct 29 - 31 @ South West Snooker Academy

    Hi guys,

I was checking the PTC/EPTC schedule the other and noticed the EPTC event 4 will be held in Offenburg, Germany, which is just kilometers away from where I live. Obviously, I'll cross the border to see that live.

The question is: does anybody have info on the venue? I looked everywhere trying to find something but no luck so fack. Maybe Ferret or janie would have something?

I was also unable to obtain any information on this tournament: No official site, no ticket sales, nothing...snookerstars.de don't even mention it!
It would also collide with the recently announced Power Snooker event, so my guess is that another turney is probably planned, but details are still TBA and not yet fixed.

Yeah, not too far. Something like 30-40km away, roughly. I'm living just 15 min west of Strasbourg.

I have a 2010/2011 season plan for Germany. It says the date for the German nationals is 23.10 - 31.10.2010.

If it clashes with both the German national championships and the Power Snooker event @ the 02, its more than likely that this event will be moved.

The event won't be held on that date I don't think, they'll definatley move it for another date.

I don't think they need to move it. A clash with power snooker is not a big deal. There are only 8 players involved in power snooker. Of those 8, Ding Junhui already cannot qualify for the PTC final event as he has missed too many competitions. Brecel and White are highly unlikely to qualify anyway and will be more attracted by power snooker. It is almost mathematically impossible for Selby not to qualify for the PTC finals so he won't care if he misses a competition. The rest can all afford to miss one competition and still qualify. On top of all that, power snooker is on over one day(saturday) and the format of PTC events means that if they enter the PTC and avoid the bottom half of the draw where games are played on saturday, they could actually play in both events if they really wanted to (albeit with some travelling).

But surely one of the main objectives in staging an eptc event in Germany is to encourage the best players in Germany to obtain invaluable experience against the best in the world.

The official programme of the Paul Hunter Classic featured an article on the Ortenau Cup (EPTC4) and confirms the date Oct 29 - 31.
The venue is the Ortenau Halle (http://www.messeoffenburg.de/html/ve...t=1&tid=138249).
