Sorry matey, i've no idea then. I didn't even know these 'plate' matches existed. Is it like the last EPTC where the first round losers play a knockout for a bit of cash?

They are part of a competition (the Plate competition) for the 64 players who failed to get through to the Last 64.

Yes, there's some money in it > 1,500 euro for the winner, 500 for the r-up

Just logged on for the 1st time today...

            JIMMY IS BACKKKKK!!!!!

Saw some real improvement against Paul Davison in Glasgow and against Ronnie he didn't really get much of a chance.

COME ON JIMMY!! YOU CAN WIN THIS TOURNAMENT!!

I thought that he was shocking against Davison in Glasgow to be honest, just knowing how to get over the line on the big stage got him through I think.

He wasn't at his best against Paul. But IMO he showed why he can still be a Top 16 player. In the Masters he was all over the place. He's got some sort of long potting game back also. I think its the mental side that he's been struggling with in the past few years.

Jimmy has gained some confidence lately...he needs to improve his positional play and if he does he could be a top 32 contender. I think top 16 is too much for him, for now at least.
"There has only ever been Alex Higgins, myself and now Ronnie O'sullivan who play the game the way it should be played with such excitement - I know the fans love it this way" - Jimmy White

I think the Masters was largely down to nerves really, not having played in front of a crowd like that with so much pressure and weight of expectation upon his shoulders for so long.

He'll never be a top 16 player again though for me, not to say that he can't win matches or qualify for a few venues but the consistency isn't there now and hasn't been for some time. He hasn't been ranked in the 50's and 60's for the last few seasons by accident.

Or...the fact he didn't know how to win a t.v match, was why he struggled a bit. He actually played better v O'Sullivan.

                      Jimmy White 2-4 Shaun Murphy.

Not a surprise, really but at least he's competing again. It doesn't matter how much you love a sport, if you are getting beat all the time, it must be really depressing. You can see it in the faces of McManus, Stevens and Hendry of late and i suppose all of us that play sports, know how crap it is when you hit a bad run of form.

He didn't look like he enjoyed playing in this format.

He got 1960, but he started 2008/9 very well and has 3675 coming off after this week as a result.

Thanks for the photos, nice to have a picture of the venue.

At least a few more people can see the games and no segregation between some tables. It must be a bit more relaxing to play in actually.

                                Thanks for posting the pics.
