  • PTC Rules

Should there be a special consideration Given to Ding Junhui regarding his eligibility to play in the PTC Finals next year.

Rules State Players must play in 3 out of 6 PTC (sheffield) and 3 out of 6 EPTC (Europe and Gloucester )

But apparently he had visa problems and missed 4 PTC Sheffield leaving him out of the running for the finals.

but he is having a great run in the PTC Series since his return and he has shot in to the top 20 and would be 7th if he won today.

so should the rules be bent if he can prove his Visa Troubles was 100% Genuine ?

    Great pool, Wild!

I think, this rule (must play in 3 out of 6 PTC (sheffield) and 3 out of 6 EPTC) is stupid.

    I VOTE YES!

He has been playing in the UK for a long time. There was no reason to have visa troubles that could not have been overcome, so I say NO. The rules should NOT be relaxed for him.

but we want top British players making a big effort going to europe they could have stayed home win first PTC and in the finals.

i think because there was people in Europe watching as apose to sheffield with nobody it should be minimum 4 out of 6 in europe and 2 out of 6 in sheffield.

as a Ding fan I'd love to say yes - it won't happen though. On the WSA site they mention in their final preview that he is ineligible for the finals so they won't reverse that will they......

Sadly I vote No as well. Not only were the rules clearly laid out but don't forget Ding did choose to take a holiday rather than participate in the early events.

I can see in World Snookers prematch article, that they state that he can´t play, so they have to eat their words, if they are going to change the rules. This also means that O´Sullivan has to play next time.

If his management can't sort his visa out, then NO. He has been here long enough so I'm sure there is no excuse for such lax admin.

Why should an exception be made ?

He's not Ronnie, after all, is he :>) ? ...

so it was his decision and not a visa issue.

By winning this tournament, he places himself in front of O´Sullivan in terms of exceptions. And what if exceptions are made, that could give a place to John Higgins as well, if he won one of the two tournaments he can play in. In that light I don´t think we will see exceptions.

i don't think we will see john playing in any EPTC...his father not well so he might not feel like going to europe.

If Ding had played in PTC1, 2 or 3, then missing PTC4 wouldn't have been a problem.

Especially as it could deprive a player who has made the effort to play in all the tournaments to try and earn their place.
