Anyway it´s normally counted as winning a smaller tournament, and the winner gets 2000 ranking points, which for Wollaston will be a huge step towards maintaining his place on the tour and look up in the ranking tables. Congratulations to Wolllaston btw.

Yeah I must admit I'm not entirely sure how the whole thing works. But I'm getting into it now, and looking forward to the next event.
So are you saying that at the end of all the PTCs, there's one single outright winner?

yes think of it as a £850,000 Ranking Event over a season with potentially 27,000 maximum Ranking points on offer.
last season Shaun Murphy won the Event winning £73,000 and picking up 12,320 Ranking points whitch was actually more Points than John Higgins got for the World Championship.

Well, when you put it like that, it's hardly insignificant is it.
And a result like last night's has to be good for the game, I mean, everybody loves a triumphant underdog, don't they? That is of course if they get to see, or hear, or at least read about it.

The fast and the furious,
The slow and labourious,
All of us, glorious parts of the whole!

people say its hard for lower ranked players now with expenses and making a go of it on tour but ill tell you what thats £10,000 Ben Woollaston won id guess his highest ever pay day in a box in sheffield.
