It just shows that the extra tournaments are improving the standard at top level as well as further down the rankings.

I hardly ever watch the PTCs, but I had a quick look on Sportlemon to see if there was any snooker on a few weeks ago, and caught Ricky Waldon on 104 points and on his way to a 147. Tuned in again today to see if there was any on again (for the first time since then), and caught Ding on 88 points and well on his way ...

Maybe I should tune in more often.

Amazing stuff, I can't make a 20 break with pockets 3 times the size of the ball.
However the pockets seem more forgiving when watching Ding's 147 than they do on BBC coverage of the UK for example... Have templates been changed again? They seemed to go in off the jaws even at pace throughout the break. The pockets look more rounded than normal?

I don't think that cue suits hendry he should get a new one lol. I look at SH and his current game reminds me of myself so much. That last black he missed over the pocket is typical of a shot that I would miss playing with a touch of side to widen the potting angle. Now there are only two things that would cause that miss one is the throw of the cue causing the white to push off to the left before the side took or he is not getting the cue on the line of aim ( which is most likely as he misses a lot of mid range straight balls for no reason like me) I'm sure that SH can still be a force but has to let someone take his game a part and put it back together as he is doing something wrong but for what ever reason he just can't get to the bottom of it.

The great joe davis used to say that in order to make big breaks consistently you had to keep the white as close to the object ball as possible to make the next pot easy. To days players just play for areas and as long as they have 1/2 to 3/4 ball shot to go at they will make the pot. There are no difficult pots on these tables the white on the cushion used to be a difficult shot but rarely gets mentioned these days. I for one like to see big breaks but if break building becomes to easy it can become a bit of a turn off. I would like to see us go back to a tougher cut.

Cracking win for amateur Justin Astley against John Higgins, 4 - 3.

Looking at his body language(slumped in his chair looking miserable) he seemed resigned to lose the match 3 times in the last frame, his mind is definitely not right. He should really see a sports psychologist, he puts himself under a lot of pressure when playing the games elite players these days and when it goes wrong in a few frames "he gives up mentally".
