looking forward to the Selby v Lee match up..... Hopefully Lee will carry on his good run!!

I've not be able to watch many of the games this week, there's been a few upsets by the looks of it..... shame to see Jamie Jones go out, and Ronnie not able to play due to medical reasons. But win for Guodong though.....

Hopefully it be a good day of snooker!!

I am really disapointed cos i recorded last nights snooker on Eurosport with the intention of watching Ronnie's match this morning only to find he has pulled out YET AGAIN. What exactly is this 'health' issue he is having? Physical or mental? It had better be physical cos i have just about had enough of Ronnie not turning just cos he is 'depressed' and can't be bothered.

First blood to Walden then, after Maguire broke down on 21 missing a not too difficult brown.

Yes Steven is a much better player these days. I have not watched much tv snooker in recent years and i think is coming on well.

It's glandular Fever I think, can be quite a debilitating long term illness which symptoms can come and go in waves.

And he takes the second frame with a nice 92. So it's 1 all.

Thanks Patblock heres wishing him a speedy recovery ready for next tournament. Not sure if thats the worlds or something else.
I wanted to start a new thread but can't work out how to so i will put it here. Its clear snooker is not the big tv draw it used to be which is why most of the tv tournaments are now on Eurosport rather than Sky Sports (as far as i am aware the Premier league and the shoot-out are the only events on sky now.
Anyway for my two cents some changed that i think would increase the popularity of snooker again are:
1 When a 'miss' is called, as well as the 4 points the player should be awared the ball in hand and be free to place the cue ball anywhere on the table he wants. I say this because especially in the early stages of frames the points accrued from a miss dont usually make any difference to the frame and 4 putting the cue ball in the 'D' is about as usfull as a fart in the wind. This rule changed would put a stop to a lot long drawn out early safety exchanges. There is no excuse for missing a red when most of them are still on the table - just 4 points or play the shot again doesnt usually make a difference.
2 Give the players the freedom the wear a much greater variety of shirt/tie/waistcoat. Its seems utterly stupid to me that not only does every player wear the same suit every match but the colour black seems to be disproportionaly dominant in most cases.
When the game is trying to revive its popularity dressing as if for a funeral does not help. So for crying out loud DITCH THE BLACK!
Sorry this post is longer than i intended...

3 - 1 to Mags now, and apart from that missed brown in the first, he's hardly put a foot wrong. Walden on the other hand looks uninspired to say the least.

Stephen concentrated so hard on going into the pack of reds he forgot about potting the blue and its cost him the frame. Well done to Walden for taking his chance. 3-2

Absolutely hate that idea, sorry, but I think it would completely ruin the game.

Not really too bothered about what they wear, although I think the penguin suits do add a little class.

Sorry i think the game needs to change or as a tv/profesional entity it will die. Ball in hand will make it more exciting and improve the games popularity in a big way. For tv ratings to get back to where they used to be, they have to find a way to stop the long safety exchanges and ball in hand will do that. No offence.
