The name of Power Snooker has been flying about for a few months now, nobody to sure exactly what it is or when it is going to happen but I have been doing some digging around and have found out when it will be staged, where you can get tickets and even how it will work, oh did I mention stage mockups also.
The actual date for filming the event will be Saturday 30th October with a live audience but it is unclear at this time weather it will be live on TV or broadcast at a later date. I do know that we should have Point of Sale posters, logo's etc by next week as there is a photoshoot scheduled this week.
The original concept of Power Snooker was that of Pat Mooney, but after a conversation with him last month about this I understand that he no longer has a part to play with Power Snooker but wishes it success for this good fun concept.
Originally it was to be a 6 event promotional series with in excess of 500k in the prize fund but this is far form what I have been told. This is going to be a one off show with only £75,000 in the kitty.

How it will sound
This advert was placed on a website last week for a voice over for the promotional video;
The Rules
The rules are the same as traditional Snooker but with a few matchroom style variations for instance there will be a shot clock, ball in hand after a foul and each frame will have a 30 minute time limit.
Here is where it gets complicated;
Century Breaks
A century break, in any frame, will be rewarded by a fifty point bonus, and if this is repeated in the next frame, a hundred point bonus will apply, and, if again in a third frame, a two hundred point bonus will be earned.
Power Zone
The area behind the baulk line will be designated the “power zone” – if the cue ball is struck from within the power zone, any colour potted will be worth double.
Breaking off
There will be not 15, not 10, not 6 but 9 reds on the table racked in a diamond like some pool games, when a player breaks, two reds must hit a cushion, if this is achieved the player keeps control, if not, the initiative is passed to his opponent.
Power Ball
The middle red will be a powerball when potted, this will trigger a two minute power play during which every ball which is potted counts double, if a shot is missed during a powerplay, the clock stops and the players opponent will take over the remaining time in that particular powerplay.
Prize Money
The scoring system is one like the oneForSeven system with a rolling score board, prize money is split
The venue is The 02 arena and players linked with the concept are Neil Robertson, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Ali Carter, Jimmy White and Mark Selby not sure who the other three are yet but my guess would be possibly one of the new players like Reanne Evens or Patrick Einsle and possibly a Chinese player, Ding or Liang

This is a 'Rules of the Game' information film. The voiceover for the Rules of the game of Power Snooker, will be dubbed onto a 90 second film showing pretty closely what is being spoken. The game being described is a new version of Snooker. The completed film will be shown at a media press conference. The voice needs an air of authority but not too much. No real emotion, just straight information but it is a new game so must be a positive voice. A 'London' ish accent may help, but not 'cockneyish'
