What if he drops the ball and takes another 10 seconds or more to retrieve it, then another 10 seconds to clean it and another 5 try to put it back on the table? Will the time foul be called on the player?
In that case a time out will be called by the referee. Normally the referee will clean the ball during the player's time but if he drops the ball for example then the referee will call time out and then start the clock when he puts the ball back on the table or when cleaning the ball. That makes much more sense. Thanks for the link.

I think 25 seconds is a good time allowed for a regular shot. Some players might be cutting it real close like Marco Fu's average time in a frame was like 24 seconds; some players seem to have lots of spare time, such as in a match with Judd Trump and Neil Robertson, I noticed Judd took his time to pick up what the ref dropped on the floor, gave it back to the ref, and then shot his ball and still had time left! Regardless, no one seems to be needing more time than 25 seconds for regular shots.

But sometimes they do need time to think things over in a tricky situation, especially in a grinding match.

I would like to see a certain number of time out being allowed per frame, rather than in the whole match.

A player does not know how the match will progress in the beginning so he will hesitate to call any time out in the first couple frames, even may be he should have. In my opinion, that lowers the standard of play unnecessarily. Having a set number of time out per frame would make more sense in my humble opinion.

All in all, I still think the PL is the best snooker production on TV right now though.

          • As usual Neil Robertson's break building leaves a lot to be desired...

The pot on the green to go in-off was just pathetic!!!!

                      • Good comfortable win for Hendry although far from impressive.

Needs to improve a lot if he's aiming at the Grand Prix trophy...

                        • Yes, this 5-1 is hugely misleading... Though Selt is not used to playing on TV tables, so Hendry very well may get through to the second round playing like today.

                          • So much for my prediction of a 4-2 win for Robertson.
