Well, I didn't really see this one coming. I thought O'Sullivan would be stronger, but he was outclassed tonight, Murphy played really well. But he is a top4 player, so it's not that big of a shock I guess.
I can't wait for the UK now. It has to be a good sign for Murphy, but I wonder... Did he just peak a week too early? He could possibly meet Ding in the 2nd round and go out early if he's not at his best. But I bet he won't be lacking confidence.
O'Sullivan has to be worried, although there wasn't much wrong with his game yesterday. But he does need to improve a lot if wants to contend for the UK title. Not an easy draw either. He's scheduled to meet Ebdon in the 2nd round, or possibly Trump. Not to mention the possibility of playing Stevens in his opener, which could be tricky as well.

Congrats to Murphy. Nice to have a new champ in the PL. ROS will be back though at the UK. As said many times before, you never know how he will play He should do something about his long-potting for starters. With 20% success there it will be difficult to deliver in the long run.Ten reds and not a colour...

Congratulations to Shaun! He did play well. Much better than Ronnie anyway. Well it's not like we thought Ronnie would be the eternal winner of the League.... This day was bound to come....Winner of the 2009 UK Championship Lucky Dip

I just want to add that perhaps one of the reasons Ron's fan base is so huge is that while on his "good days" he plays
absolutely God-like [ maybe the best anyone has ever seen ] ... he also has "bad days'... today, so bad he was Us-like.
The stuff of Legend.

Thanks, Noel. About us-like.... well, I can only dream that on my best day I could play as 'badly' as he plays on his worst! Maybe he shouldn’t have run in that Norwich half marathon earlier in the day. Certain priorities need to be sorted out. Part of growing up, y’know.... And of being perfectly professional....Winner of the 2009 UK Championship Lucky Dip

Murphy vs O’Sullivan
If I’m not wrong, nobody guessed the final score.
- one of us predicted a whitewash (Murphy 0-7 O’S)
- no one thought the match would end 1-7
- 5 members gave as final result 2-7
- 6 members thought the match would end 3-7
- 19 members thought the match would end 4-7
- 14 members thought the match would end 5-7
- 2 members thought the match would end 6-7
- 2 members thought the match would end 7-6
- 3 members thought the match would end 7-5
- one forum member thought the match would end 7-4
This does not mean to interfere with the prediction contest results. I was just curious because I know how much wishful thinking we can find in such predictions.....Winner of the 2009 UK Championship Lucky Dip

Mignon, had Ronnie swapped out his running shoes for his s h i t k i c k i n g snooker boots...
most of us would've been correct/semi-correct.
