Ok, that's quite enough of this over-analysis, it's time to enjoy the tournament. It's quite convenient for me that the matches are in the morning, so I don't have to choose between this and basketball. Instead, I get an entire day of fun next week.
Quite a good analysis again, but Ding might be the weakest link, I think, Odrl.
He skipped PTC events and did not get a real match practice under his belt, so even if he can get past Jin, trailing 3-1 at the moment ( correct me if I'm wrong ), he will struggle to make it a battle against Williams or maybe Dott.

Speaking of basketball, I have just realized that our countries have a clash tonight
May the best team win, although I have a feeling that Slovenia will prevail

Yes, I just thought that his immediate draw was not that difficult though. His possible opponents before the QF were Milkins, Jin, Davis and Cope, and none of them are really in his league. But there you go, nothing is guaranteed. He's 1-4 down now...

I hope you're right, but my gut feeling says Turkey will win. I think we would be slightly stronger on neutral ground, but the home advantage is likely to play a big part. Whatever happens, I won't be too disappointed. The last16 game was the big one for me, it meant the difference between underachieving and reaching our goal.

Should be an interesting conclusion to the tournament, starting in less than an hour with Serbia against Spain.

      • Well... Murphy has gone into the lead at 4-3, so there may not be any surprises there.

But Ding is still under pressure. Jin had a chance to clear for 5-1, but it's gone to 4-2, with Jin in the balls in the 7th frame...

        • Shaun Murphy has turned the things around against Stephen Lee, an interesting, yet enjoyable game so far..

As for the Serbia vs Spain match, no basketball fan should miss that one, surely a fascinating QF.

Meanwhile, Hendry has crashed out, losing 5-2 to Gould. Definitely not the start he had hoped for..

              • Murphy wins 5-3.

Ding is coming back as well, 3-4 now, and he leads 45-0 in the 8th frame.

                  • Not really surprised with Hendry going out. Hopefully he will do better at the World Open, especially with the home support he will have, but I wouldn't count on it..

Me neither. He might be in for a tough season.

Jin Long threw that away really, had plenty of chances to win and Ding didn't play too well either.

                            • Interesting first round so far. Stephen Maguire has the easiest draw on paper for the rest of the tournament. I fancy him winning this one.
