  • Ranking Points

I was t wondering with the new ranking sytem, do players who were on the main tour two years who have dropped off and returned to tour still loose points points from the 2008 shangi Masters tornament

the players that returned to the tour after dropping off in the 2008/2009 Season

    Paul S Davison
    Andrew Pagett
    Kuldesh Joha
    James McBain
    Jamie Jones
    Liu Chang
Ronnie O' Sullivan seven times the record breaking Snooker Master

There is a piece in Snooker Scene this month about tweaking the way starter points are handled, because of the more frequent updating of the rankings.

It would mean that the player would lose a proportion of his starter points at each revision point of the season, to mirror the fact that other players will lose part of the previous season's results.

I didn't read it in great detail but I seem to recall it made sense!

ive said this before and ill say it again lol

once a player drops off tour their points are stripped away so the 2008/2009 points they won have evaporated and diapeared never to be seen again.

they rejoined this season on the same criteria mcgill and reanne evans did as totally new untouched professional players :snooker:

Yeah a letter went out to the players a few weeks back confirming that, see my post here.
