Good morning to everyone who got up to watch this, should be an interesting final.

But the attendance is a disgrace. I can't remember the last time a ranking final was played in an emptier arena.

Great 3rd frame, with a lovely safety battle on the yellow. Burnett takes the early lead at 2-1.

That was some foul from Carter.

It's now obvious that this match won't be decided in the first session. It's going to be 5-4 either way, Burnett with a chance...

Well, that's already been obvious before the start of the match, hastn't it? The opening session contained 9 frames and there's no way you can win a best-of-19 match from just 9 frames.

Obviously I didn't mean that literally. I just meant that no player was going to get a significant lead. There was a danger that Burnett, who had never played a match as big as this, would succumb to the pressure of the occasion, and struggle to play his best. But I guess he got through it. OK, he missed quite a few easy balls, but it's still only 4-5, although he could have been ahead.

From Carter's point of view, I think the danger was that he would think he was untouchable. When he played the Welsh Open final against Swail, he quickly went 1-5 behind, and only started to play his best when he realized he could lose the match. He has to do the same here, or the final session could go very close.

British Summer Time, it's an hour behind CET, which means the final session starts at 13.45 in Central Europe.

Not much of a hype going around here for the final, and I missed the first session, as well, thanks to a referendum here.
A close match from what I have read from the Eurosport commentary.

It's pretty hard to follow here unfortunately, not televised on British Eurosport and my stream is struggling. Hate dodgy streams anyway, I'd rather just not bother.

It certainly was. The 11th frame was probably the best frame of the tournament, with a brilliant safety battle, first on the yellow, and then on the pink. I wonder how long it lasted.

That last frame was pretty interesting too, although the standard was quite poor.

So, with six more frames possibly to be played, Burnett is not out of this yet.
