  • Thankfully we are not all robots so all play the game we see correct at the time, i enjoy watching Selby play, i think he has a great safety game and is better at getting out of snookers than anyone else. At this level, and especially in a final where Selby is chasing more elusive wins, i think he every right to play the game he sees fit, and if people cannot appreciate that, then you are not a true snooker fan. !

Didnt this come from half baked comments from Junhui and Dott after they played Selby when the Jester knocked out Ronnie? I suspect its speculative or subconscious sour grapes once Ronnies knocked out and no more.I've never heard a decent defence of the 'negativity',it doesnt help to perpetuate it tbh. Straw hat argument #1,Higgins talking about 'hell' playing Selby, hell is an indirect compliment and it doesnt have a synonym of 'negativity',hope this helps :-)

      • People can have varying views on all aspects of snooker , that does not make them true snooker fans , it makes them individuals .

        • during the final the negative shots infact came from williams more than selby ...

people get this idea Selby is more negative than others and therefore look out for it but Williams played some very negative safties at times during the final.

          • I can´t really see the Higgins Selby video showing anything about playing negative. Then you can just as well blame Higgins for playing into the pack instead of loosening the two reds.

Can you cite an example of a 'negative' match Selby played? I've never heard an example that wasnt laughable and wont hold my breath, btw what is a 'true snooker fan'?

                  • I would call a "true snooker fan" is someone who can appreciate all aspects of the game, from all out attacking non stop potting, to prolonged almost unbearably slow safety battles, all part of the game in my eyes. Safety battles have far more tension in them than someone going for a pot and missing, leaving the other player in to clean up and win the frame.

Yup not many better matches than that Higgins Selby 09 qf plus the 07 world final is forgotten too,Selby made inroads on a massive lead played great on the monday. :-)

                      • If two balls were hit at the same time (one being the object ball and the other being the fouling ball) was there a rule that says a foul will not be called?

                          • Being a big fan of Mark Williams since childhood, it pains me to hear about Williams losing his match because he let one controversial incident affected his playing. It's unusual to see that from him. Hopefully he'll come back stronger. I would kick a dog if he doesn't win at least 1 major ranking event this season.
