Is it just me, or does that look like a very kind draw for Kurt Maflin? I could see him potentially reaching the last 32 given the opponents he has to play.

(Of course, now I've said that, look out for a 5-0 van Hove whitewash)

The top quarter looks tough with a possible Higgins v Cope 1st round then Higgins/Cope V Selby and Williams V O'Sullivan. Good to see Murphy has a nice easy draw, expect him to be in the quarters.

It seems we only have 95 players on the tour as Walker got a bye, lucky fella

Who would have thought it 2 years ago that the opening tournament of 2007 would have a potential 3rd Qualifying round match of White vs Mcmanus?

Ermm, why has Michael White been emitted? The SnookerScene blog has more info.

Pretty pathetic if you ask me, if Shaun Murphy was given dispensation to play when he was 15. He's definitely good enough, without the rules he would have been on the tour last year as well. If the WSA hadn't stupidly organised the qualifiers for June, this mess could have been avoided anyway, I mean the tournament doesn't even start till August, with White's birthday on the 5th of July!

If you ask me, there should be no age restriction anyway - if you're good enough, I see no reason why you shouldn't be allowed on. I suppose he's only emitted for Shanghai anyway.

Also, why are the top 16 listed in the qualifiers? Will they be going to Prestatyn too?
          (EDIT: Of course, they're not!

And I'm pleased that Ashley Wright has a nice enough draw, Wenbo, Hull, Burnett and then Bond to set up a tie with Hendry. It'd be great to see, coming from Grimsby, like him, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high.

There are only 95 players this year as the IBSF Under 21 winner gets a place on next years tour. However I think Yasin Merchant may be getting that place.

                Well according to http://globalcuesportscentre.com/yab...m=1179831163/0

Match 10 space is a wildcard - to be allocated at the discretion of World Snooker
Match 12 space is the EASB Pro-Ticket winner.

and Bye is because White is not 16

Talking of Willcards....so there's not to be any wildcard round in this particular China tournament ?

At least thats how it seems from the draw on worldsnooker - with the winner of the preceeding matches straightforwardly playing the next opponent with no mention of any wildcards.

Just the one wildcard match 10 ?

Unless they would have it AFTER round 5 ?

Wildcards would play at the tournament proper against winners of the round of 48.

This one wildcard is because the U21 championship is too late in the year for its winner to claim their tour place this season.

I'm sure they could find somebody to fill it for the season as opposed to just bringing in a random wildcard each event.

To be honest he will be facing a huge difference in class in Shanghai compared to the tournament he won.

Looking at the top 16 draw, I don't think there will be an easy half in this year's tournaments compared with past years' with players like Day, Selby and Ding lurking about in the top 16. Then again everything is relative.

Alfie Burden if he beats Alex Davis is rather unlucky for White.

What do you mean if Alfie wins it is unlucky for white?

I agree. Although some people speak highly of Burden, he didnt survive the main tour on merit last year, and needed a second chance wildcard this year. As far as I know Burden wont be any harder or easier than any other qualifier White may have to play.

Personally I think its lucky for Jimmy that Trump is in the same batch of qualifiers as him, so at least he wont have to play Trump.
