I assume they would have expected Williams to be playing O'Sullivan which would have had to have been televised plus the Chinese love Davis but Higgins is World Champion so one of them would have missed out. I still find it slightly strange but people in advance may have bought tickets for each table expecting their match. For example someone bought tickets for table 3 as Higgins was on it and it was moved and they had Pettman and Bingham they would be slightly more aggrieved than us because they purchased the ticket.

I know what you are saying Alex but there was a high probability right from the start that Higgins would play against Selby. Even if Ronnie had played Williams it would have been even more annoying to only see them on table 2. I have to admit that I wouldn't have been quite as upset if the match had featured Ebdon instead of Harold but my suggestion would be to be more flexible on the day and have people choose which match they wanna watch. It was like this in the Welsh Open and it seemed fairly sensible to me.

updates: Selby is on a somewhat high break (60-ish) and should take frame 6 to make it 3 all. edit: He did win the frame with a 74 break.

Ryan Day just won 5-3 against McCulloch.
