Its the first session I actually have seen this week. Also the first time I witnessed the 2 Mike's (eurosport2 being in the digital pack). They are doing a good job, something different than the normal household names. They also keep quiet when positional play is obvious!

11 hours is a bit much imo You have, unfortunately, missed some very fluent snooker! Almost atleast one half century per frame! Hopefully this trend will continue in the second session.

haha, about two miliseconds after dale had seccured the ninth frame with his good and fluent break I fell asleep and woke up now... they really ought to play these matches on a more decent time!

I agree Mike x2 is fairly good at commentating, not as bad as some people has related it.

Was a bit amusing though, as I had seen Day slam in the final black in his 115 break on Shanghai TV ten mins before they showed the replay of it on Eurosport 2, Mike said something like "and now I think he'll slam this final black in" when he obviously knew that Day wasn't going to play it gentle.

I will give my definite verdict after a few more tournaments. Initially you would think Dennis Taylor is a good commentator, but after half a dozen you know hes always coming with the 1985 final or some trivial stuff about a players' neighbour having build a new conservatory

Agreed. He seems to take 15 minutes to get a sentence out, and on the rare occasions that he's not stating the obvious, repeating his co-commentator or taking advantage of the fact that he's already seen the frame, he's usually way off the mark. David Hendon plays a similar role, but he's immeasurably better at it.

Joe Johnson's actually grown on me during this tournament, there have been very few mentions of butchers and occasionally he's said something insightful, although he seems to have picked up a lot of the commentators clichés for someone so new to the trade. (Why does every single commentator feel the need to come out with the old 'no prizes for guessing...' thing when a shot to nothing lands behind a colour?)

Hendon/Johnson has been my favourite pairing this week. Neal Foulds sometimes does a bit, I wish he'd get involved with Eurosport more as he's the best of the lot.

They still make the BBC commentators seem like a breath of fresh air though.
