First time I have seen him play but his results so far this season have been impressive on paper. Was unlucky to lose to Parrott last week, would have beaten most other qualifiers with that performance I think.
... rather than play a safety (which he has done very well in this game) down to balk colours, Wenbo overhits a relatively difficult 3' pot to end pocket - red just off rail past side pocket - he has done this more than a couple of times in this match... if he continues like that he will certainly lose to mahitthi
Something I've noticed about Wenbo is that he always seems to fade the longer the match goes on, I wonder if thats because he puts too much effort into every shot and essentially punches himself out.

He seems to me like a player who can only play when hes in front...any time i seen him in close matches, he seems very tight and edgy, and misses a lot of balls.

That may be the case as well but judging for his facial expressions it just seems he puts too much into each shot.

Well see... that's exactly the type of behaviour I branded idiotic in the Higgins match... because in his match today Liang was comparatively VERY cautious and he did play safe often when he needed to - he's obviously capable - something he did not do in the Higgins match. As you say playing this way will not gain him many victories especially against the more experienced guys, unless they are totally out of form of course.
Mistake from the referee in the Wenbo v Mahitthi match today?? He called a lot of misses when Mahitthi was able to hit the black easily, he kept nominating the baulk colours......Wenbo should of been awarded the frame after the 3 misses:snooker::snooker:
i don't like the WC round in these tournaments as it could stop a capable player of getting through to the deep end of the tournament possibly because they have an absolute nightmare against one of these amateurs, when these wildcards would at their stage of their career be able to compete against the likes of the top 16.
anyway i enjoyed them in the tournament today when betting all the main tour boys to beat all these guys. they were pretty much certainties and all the matches worked out at about 19/2. i cleaned up :snooker:
